BBQ Dyrehave and Sankt Hans Eve The weather for the last week has been absolutely gorgeous so I've been taking full advantage with lots of outdoor activities. Last Sunday I attended the annual CAMDCINF summer BBQ. CAMD is the research group I work in at DTU and CINF is a closely related experimental research group here. The weather was really nice and the food was fantastic. They roasted an entire pig the Spanish studen http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Denmark/Region-Hovedstaden/Copenhagen/blog-412328.html Living in a container I've been living in the DTU containers in Lyngby about 20 min. from central Copenhagen for almost 3 weeks now. They are storage units turned into international student housing not the nicest place but certainly livable. Its also right across the street from the building I am working in so super convenient although I have not been managing to get to work any earlier than I was when I had http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Denmark/Region-Hovedstaden/Copenhagen/blog-410528.html Copenhagen Sight Seeing I went sight seeing with a friend last Sunday so here's a few of the photos. I'll add more and write more later. http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Denmark/Region-Hovedstaden/Copenhagen/blog-409587.html Malmo Day Trip My trip to Malmo last Saturday was a bit of a disaster. Well that may be an ovestatement but it was certainly much less pleasant than I had hoped. I went to Malmo because I forgot most of my jeans at home and everyone said shopping there would be much cheaper than in Copenhagen. Part of the problem was that I got a late start. I went to the main train station in Copenhagen and took the train http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Sweden/Skane/Malmo/blog-405328.html Comments on Copenhagen The weather this weekend was fantastic I think the highs were in the low to mid 70s. Friday I was going to meet Lars an exUW grad student now DTU postdoc and some of his friends at Tivoli which is this large parkgardenamusement park in downtown Copenhagen. They were going to see a Danish folk singer there. I made it downtown at like 930 or so and the line to get in was outrageously http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Denmark/Region-Hovedstaden/Copenhagen/blog-404019.html Amsterdam Part II As for the rest of my weekend in Amsterdam Saturday evening we went out to eat at an Italian restaurant close to the Hostel. Then Matt and I went to Nieuwmarkt square which was the same area I went to with the kid from Chicago the night before. In the center of the square is a building called De Waag which apparently used to be a gate in the medieval city walls then was converted to a weighin http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Netherlands/North-Holland/Amsterdam/blog-403493.html Amsterdam men can pee anywhere Currently on day two of my weekend trip to Amsterdam. I've been impresssed by the gazillion places men can urinate here At night there are these large plastic circular contraptions split into four urinals that are put out at the corners of intersections. There's also permanent urinals all over the place. I saw a guy today peeing at Vondelpark which is apparently a national monument. Beside http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Netherlands/North-Holland/Amsterdam/blog-401451.html Numero Uno I don't know Danish So here's a bit on the first few days...On the way here my first flight was delayed and I got stuck in Chicago for an extra night. I ended up taking a flight the next day at 430 with a layover in Stockholm. With the time change I left my house at 600 on a Friday and finally arrived in Copenhagen at about 1100 am on a Sunday long tripI made it to my place okay my suitcase only fell over http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Denmark/Region-Hovedstaden/Copenhagen/blog-400766.html
