Day 3. Tuesday 28Th September. I woke up with my head still banging from altitude and jet lag. This Spanish lesson was difficult but I think I am starting to learn something, what I don't know! Probably that I should leave Spanish to those who can speak it! After the lesson I decided not to go to the salsa class that is included as my head was banging still. So instead Angella and I went to a nearby beauty salon and we both had a manicure and pedicure, the total cost was only $12 about £9 estas muy bien! After that we had lunch and mango mojitos at a bar call Azuza. I was ready for an early night at 1930 but stayed up until 2200! ... read more

Day 2 Monday 27th September. Got up at 0630 after a good nights sleep. Me and my roommate Angella got a taxi to the language school. My tutor is called Adriana. I had a lesson between 0830 and 1230. It didn't go too badly. Afterwards I went with Angella and Tracy (another spanish school student) to the middle of the world! Latitude 0/Longitude 0. Our guide David then took us to the centro colonial (old town). It was a fantastic afternoon but I am now cream crackered after a very long and busy day! I have just finished my first tareo de espanol, otherwise known as spanish homework! ... read more

The Big Trip, day 1! Sunday 26th September 2010. Woke up at 0440 am, checked out of the Heathrow premier inn (very good for £44) at 0500. I then took the shuttle bus to Heathrow terminal 3. When I arrived to check in I was informed that there was space on the 0620 flight (I was booked on the 0720) so i changed flights which was a good job as they became delayed. I had a connecting flight in Madrid to go to Quito which was also delayed. I eventually arrived in Quito at 1730 local time (2330) at home. The Rosales family whom I am staying with seem very nice. and hospitable. I eventually went to sleep after 23 hours of being awake!... read more

Day 1 didn't start off too great as I managed to break my necklace and spill my drink all over the hotel armchair and carpet it has got better although my clumsiness hasn't subsided! Hotel hacienda in el segundo is ok for the money, doesn't look too great from the outside but the bed was comfy enough. I met the group at 0730 everyone seems really nice. We started the day heading into bel air we drove through rodeo drive and then headed towards Chinese theatre. After looking at jonny depps handprints we then headed toward a lookout point to see the famous Hollywood sign (from a distance anyway!) we then left LA heading along the pacific coast towards the first campsite of the trip! Currently passing thru Santa barbara ... read more
