Well I've started this blog and will hopefully be able to figure it out so I can keep in touch while on my adventures in Baja Mexico!
Mandi and I are departing Calgary, Alberta, Canada at 7:50am Wednesday January 30, 2008. Set to arrive in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico at 2:33pm that afternoon, where we will be picked up and taken to the town of San Bartolo.
We will be camping on a beach in Mexico for one month learning how to build cob houses!
Come February 29, after the cobbing is completed we will be travelling around for a few weeks.
Hoping to see other areas of Mexico, do some ATVing, scuba, ruins, kayaking, surfing, etc etc...
Then train ride it up to Victoria, BC where we will hang out for a day or two before going our own ways.
Via the Amtrak we hope to see San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, then take the Ferrie to BC, Canada!
I am going to miss Canada and my family and friends so so much, but can’t wait to explore Mexico and learn some new skills and a little Spanish!!!!
So cobbing is moving along well, we're almost done all the walls and what is called scratch coating (which prepares the wall for the final plaster), Mandi and I are working on finishing the doorway accents and I think personally I will enjoy the colored plaster more than anything! Took the day off yesterday due to a combination of sun stroke, anxiety, and the talked about '2 week vacationing wall'..... So we were both missing home and the conveniences of our normal lives, and just feeling really exausted and drained. Feeling better today though thank goodness. Anyways won't say too much, but will post some more pictures. Can't wait to be traveling on our own though and exploring more of Mexico, up the west coast of the states, and beautiful British Columbia :) Our plan so

So I have decided to send out a little 'look back' presentation when I get back. We are still doing very well, the cob building is comming along, and I am looking forward to more days off to explore! People are starting to go to bed earlier each night and more meat is sneaking its way in to meals, more meat options I should say - I just can't do the vegan

Some stayed at the camp ground and relaxed, some went into town for laundry, lunch and hot tubs, and Mandi and I chose to check t del Cabo (about an hour and a half drive away). Pat (the coordinator) was going into town to pick up the last 2 cobbers Gulia atnd Dustin so dropped Mandi and I off for 2 hours to tcheck out the city, allot of touristy stuff, every store selling the same thing, but it was nice to be in a more developed area for a bit - I am a city girl

There was some mis-communication as to which terminal we were arriving in but after a nerve wrecking 2 hour wait, our ride arrived! Off to San Bartolo we were in a truck with 5 others. Set up camp just as the sun was setting, grabbed what was left of some yummy bean burritos, hit the facilities, and we were sitting fire side with our new amigos (about 10 others so far). I am so excited and so happy to be here and happy that the flights went well, all our baggage is here, and we are going to be sharing a month with some really amazing people - so friendly - biggest hugs EVER! Love it! I'm wishing I'd learnt
