The next morning we quickly enjoyed our free “breakfast” and then collected all our bags so we could leave them at the train station for the day, as we would eventually be traveling to Florence. We skipped over the first two cities that we had seen yesterday and arrived in Corniglia where we caught the bus up to the top where the city was located. This city was very different from any of the other cities because of the elevation. You could overlook a lot of the coast, so we bought some fruit and had a little picnic and took some [View Full Entry]

Heading to Cinque Terre
We recovered from our crawl the previous night, with some greasy McDonald’s goodness. Soon after wards we boarded our train for La Spezia, just outside of Cinque Terre. Our plan was to spend 3 days and 2 nights there, we were staying at a nice bed and breakfast for fairly cheap. We got in pretty late when we arrived in La Spezia, but on the train we got to enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Mediterranean coastline. We dropped our bags off at a very classy looking bed and breakfast, so we could wonder around the city and see a bit [View Full Entry]

Our 2nd day started, as any good day should, with pancakes(Or Plancakes or Plumcackes as our Hosts call them). Our host Elena had always seen them on American movies but had never tried them, so we obliged and made some pretty delicious ones. Once breakfast was finished and cleaned up we went once more to the Vatican to see if we could get into the museum. Once we reached the entrance, possibly due to the lateness our pancakes caused us, there was the largest line we'd ever seen. We followed the line of people to the top of the hill and [View Full Entry]

And this is where we stayed....
Some normal Italian architecture in rome
Dolce and Gabbana

Our first morning in Rome, one of our couchsurfers make us delicious Lattes (coffee is so delicious here), we eat some crackers with jam and honey, and we are off! We quickly encounter a random street market; we come out with some fresh oranges and continue. Our destination you may ask, why of course it is time to visit the popes house… or nation I suppose. The Vatican, we learned, is it’s own sovereign nation. We manage to get their fairly quickly as we are beginning to master using all forms of subway/metro. We wander down the street leading to the [View Full Entry]

And of course one more perspective thinger
More star jumps yay

Our last day in Santorini, the hotel owner said that we could stay for as long as we needed without charge, this was very helpful as we did not really want to have to carry all of our luggage around all day. We relaxed for half the day by the pool stealing a local wi-fi connection Caroline managed to find near the end of the hotel property. We also stocked up at the grocery store for our upcoming long voyage. Even purchased a few “Cold ones” for St patty’s day (which we would be spending on an overnight ferry, hurray!) Around [View Full Entry]

Right before getting on our boat to the volcano's
Today we wanted to take a tour to the Volcano and Hot Springs. We checked the bus schedule going from Perissa to Fira and it left at 9:15am and the boat for the tour left at 11:00am that would give us more then enough time. We gobbled down some breakfast and went to the bus stop early just in case. We waited till around 9:30am when Joren realized, SHIT, it is Saturday, we checked the schedule for Monday-Friday, our bus was not coming. We decided to rent quads again and started walking that way when we remembered it did not open [View Full Entry]

The Boat
We took from Athens
Our morning/afternoon on the ferry from Athens to Santorini went well, the ferry was huge. We gave our tickets to the ferryman and then boarded which meant taking an escalator to the first deck. This deck included a couple restaurants, tourist shop, and lots of seats. We took a few seats at the back and put our luggage in the compartments behind us. We all proceeded to get comfortable and one by one fell asleep. We all had a good 4 hour nap and after getting up Joren went to tour the boat. He checked out the deck and everything the [View Full Entry]

One of our Couchsurfer Hosts offered to give us a ride to the airport which we were so thankful, as we had to be there at 4:30 in the morning and could not imagine trying to make it their by public transport at that time. We packed the night before and decided to leave at 4:20 because we were really close to the airport and at that time in the morning should have only been a 15 minute drive, but of course there was construction. We were not to worried while sitting in the traffic because we left with enough time [View Full Entry]

We finished Raving at 7 and caught a train at 7:13am back to Oisterwijk it was the very first train that left that morning. Liesbeth met us at the Train station at 9 with our bags so we could jump on another train to head towards Paris. Our second train was supposed to go to Maastricht but just decided not to stop there and go in another direction. So there were about 8 of us that all were really confused about how we missed our stop. The conductor told us we would have to go backwards a stop and then forwards [View Full Entry]

Guess what this is?
Ya that is right... it is the Eiffel Tower
Get used to it!

We got up early on this Saturday, knowing we needed to get lots done. During the day we scrambled around packing everything we needed for our 3 week trip. Our plan was to have everything packed so when we were finished at the Trance party we could head straight to Paris. The event started at 10 that night so we had a few drinks on the train ride there eager to find out what this whole experience would be like. Trance Energy is basically an all night dance party. There were 4 stages set up, each with a different theme. It [View Full Entry]
