Caro Line

Hey fellow explorers, my name is Caroline. I joined travelblog as a way to combine my two passions of traveling and writing in one. I havent crossed the globe just yet but I hope to share some of my favorite travel experiences with you as I read about yours and look forward to becoming inspired by new destinations so I can eventually quit my day job and visit them all in this lifetime! It can be done, of this I am certain.

So with that said, welcome. I obtain my inspiration from thoughts and sights. Hope you enjoy...

Roots Run Deep... Im a transient little butterfly these days...exploring the unknown and mentally documenting all my accounts with beauty before I flutter to the next. As my first time embarking on a solo trip it was too significent not to document on paper...Maui, how I love thee. Shortly after landing on this sensually radiant island, the scents and grease of cocoa butter filled the air...bringing with them an extreme wave of bliss. I was in my element: sun, salt and sand...ohhh the tropics. I drove along the oceanside highway windows down, reggae pumpin until arriving in the town of Lahaina, my destination. I drove up the Hyatt's entryway shaded by large oaks with a backdrop of golf courses and mountain ranges. url=http://maui.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels-maui/index.jsp?src=agn_smg_hr_ppc_google_ss_propertyspecific_oggrm_hyattregencymaui&k_clickid=62feec42-14b6-cc... read more

North America » United States » Washington » Seattle December 15th 2011

It was a Wednesday morning as we soared over Mount St Helens and landed in Washington State. The fog was heavy and the air was painfully crisp. As we deboarded, I was swept away into a transic daydream of a Twilight chapter or some version of a vampire film where sunlight is a rarity and the people mope around all somber-like. Nevertheless my blood was going. I had always wanted to visit this Northwestern state and all its beauties...it was fresh and stimulating and thats exactly how I like it. So we hopped in a rental and made our way Downtown where the city pulsates and the coffee continuously brews. The W Hotel Seattle was conveniently located in the heart of the city and made the access to shops and cafes very simple. We made our ... read more

North America » United States » Massachusetts » Boston October 17th 2011

These days when the world takes its steps towards the future and you find your ties to the familiar more dispersed than they were back in the high school days, you may find yourself longing to keep the bond going and stretching your arms thin to stay in reach. And since a little autumn season never hurt nobody (and is never felt in Miami), Boston it was. Time for some fresh Fall shades and good vibes with a much missed friend... After a nice night of dinner and wine we were off the next morning on a train towards Salem to catch some October air. Salem is known for its Halloween Madness during the month of October. It brings in the spirit of magic, ghost tales, and witch craft so the locals as well as tourists ... read more

Rounding up the end of our venture we finally departed Cape Town after a week of beauty and headed through Johannesburg towards White River to reach our final destination...Kruger National Park. Our hotel lay on the outskirts of this large National sanctuary in a town known as White River. Surrounding us? A whole lot of nothing. We enjoyed a late dinner of local spreads and meats and readied ourselves for the 5am wake up call to board the bus into wilderness. We were awoken before sunrise and grabbed our gear to go. For not being much of a morning ray of sun, I was smiling and truly ecstatic. I had dreamed of the day I could encounter the wild at an arm's length. As we passed nearby villages I was taken in by the locals walking ... read more

Africa » South Africa » Western Cape » Cape Town September 30th 2011

Exploring new tastes in food and life is one of life's greatest pleasures for me. When visiting South Africa it was definitely a highlight to enmesh with the local cultures of dining and lifestyle. Wine and food are essential aspects of life at the Cape so after my limited days there I share with you some reviews... V&A Waterfront: KARIBU: Although this venue is in the midst of a tourist cove at the V&A Waterfront, it is set between the picturesque view of Table Mountain and the tranquil blue waters of the Atlantic ocean. Karibu allows you the opportunity to experience the vibrant flavor of South Africa and be part of their unique dining theater while images of their wildlife are prjected upon large screens across the room. We encountered the true ruggedness of Africa within ... read more

Africa September 26th 2011

After an amazing day of touring South Africa's vineyards the trip continued on... Our next venture was a peninsula tour with our much acclaimed favorite company: Cape Wine and Leisure Tours. We were once again picked up from our hotel after breakfast to begin yet another field trip. We began our route from our hotel in Bantry Bay and headed south along a stretch of beaches until arriving at the base of a breathtaking shoreline. Waves of teal and blue crashed against the edged rocks and above us stood the Twelve Apostles mountain range. Table Mountain is at the northern end of a sandstone mountain range that forms the spine of the Cape Peninsula. On the Atlantic coast of the peninsula, the range is known as the Twelve Apostles. The range continues southwards to Cape Point, ... read more

Africa September 26th 2011

I knew September 2011 would bring along wonderous memories and great emotions. I sought a destination until I ended up in a world of blue skies, vast fields of grapes, white linen, eloquence, and pure Mother Nature. The land of Cape Town... Doing some research I had come across a tour company that organized the stay and took care of most amenities. So we booked! Four movies in, half a book, and a semi-nap later, our 16 hour flight into Johannesburg was a success only to connect again to Cape Town. By now my body was in shock from a lack of circulation and sleeping in strange positions but hey, we made it...finally! After a day lost by traveling, it was close to evening so we ran to a nearby market and grabbed some wine, cheese, ... read more

North America » United States » Florida » Keys » Key West September 2nd 2011

Waking up after a long week and craving a getaway, a decision was randomly made...Key West baby! Escaping Miami's crazy tourists for just plain craziness. We piled in a car with what looked like enough bags for a cross-Atlantic move, drank our coffee, and cranked the music. It was the start of a weekend getaway only three hours south of Miami, but mentally a first class flight. As we arrive to the Key we search the address for our hotel, Casa 325. According to the site, it sits on the main strip of Duval Street, but lays "nestled" away. Nestled indeed...it took us three rounds around the block to finally notice a narrow cobblestone path leading to our little cove. Note that at 11 am we were not all with the program just yet. As we ... read more

North America » United States » New York » Montauk May 31st 2011

It wasn't a matter of exploration nor a thrill of feeling volatile with the unknown. It was simply a matter of placing myself in a new setting, almost behind the lens, because the town of Montauk is simply that. Nestled at the far eastern tip of Long Island, Montauk stands alone embracing the true countryside. Although linked to the Hamptons, it is not quite the poshy beach scene. Montauk is a quaint part of town where few locals live but many New Yorkers play. Once summer kicked off, I paid a visit to this heard-of surf town and figured I'd share my venture for those interested in exploring one day... From the city we grabbed the train in. This is a party in itself as liquor is welcomed on board, so we poured some champagne in ... read more

South America » Colombia » Cartagena September 13th 2010

In June of 2010, an amazing opportunity came about where I was able to head south to Cartagena, Colombia for a weekend of tropical paradise. I had been to Bogota several times but had always yearned to explore the coast of Colombia, which neighbors my familial country of Venezuela. It was a weekend business trip for my parents, but for me, a short vacation. So I arrived ready to experience a different side of the country and get a taste for the warmth, away from the mountains and into the sun. For those who have been, you can agree that its a breath-taking window into old Spain with its colonial archquitecture and plazas. But the colors and touches of modern day trends have been added to the mix. Its pulsating and beautiful, it reminds me of ... read more
