I have now 500 grams of new Yerba Mate from a friend who comes from Argentina. Has anyone a recipe to mix own Tereré? I tried with normal Mate tea you can by in the supermarket,peppermint and lemon flaor but it's not the same. Greez Max |

| 13th September 2007 Synthia | Some corrections... - From: Ten Things You Might Not Have Known About Paraguay and Were Afraid to Ask Hi. The article isn't all that bad, there are just some corrections that need to be made. 1.- To everyone who would like to go to Paraguay: DON'T DRINK THE WATER IN ASUNCION (!) or anywhere else. Buy bottled water. Only in the Chaco in the german colonies you can TRY some of the water, but be causcious. 2.- It's more like everyone in Paraguay has 2 to 3 cell phones w/different companies due to the poor reliability. :-) 3.- The "bread baked w/cheese" is not a bread at all, but a biscuit type called Chipa. (Mmmm, you have got to try it!) 4.- Mandioca is hardly eaten raw. I don't know where you stayed, but I suggest you don't go back to that place. Mandioca is always cooked and absolutely delicious. 5.- but not least: You should probably not write about the Chaco if you haven't been there. The first Mennonites (from Canada) didn't get to the Chaco till 1927. There were no other people but different groups of natives in the Chaco till 1927. | 13th April 2006 Jen | Cocatlandia - From: The Mecca of Paraguay That's what we called a place near Manzanillo, Mexico, because EVERYTHING was Coca-Cola. I'll have to dig up that photo. Also, those Virgin sightings and miracles are quite the money-maker for towns, aren't they? I remember taking pictures of people crawling on their knees to the Basilica in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, but the photos miraculously didn't develop properly. |
