| 23rd December 2008 Lori Love | Hi from Austin - From: My French Life Hi Cari, Just getting a second to check in with you. Looks like you are having a great time. I wish I was in the Place des Terreaux with you when you were there. It looked gorgeous. All is well here! Austin says hi and Merry Christmas. :) |
| 4th November 2008 Mom | Great Pictures - From: Vacation : Marseille (Part 1) Thanks for sending the pictures. They really make your experiences more understandable. Too bad the weather was bad. But rainy weather in the south of France has to be better than the same in Crest Hill. Love you and glad you're having a good time. You're eating a lot of fish? That's new! |
| 7th October 2008 steph | - From: Second weekend hey cari! sounds like you're having a great time! let me know if you find out that anyone is interested in doing a pen pal exchange, i know my kids would all love that. hope all is well, eat lots of chevre chaud salad for me :) |
| 6th October 2008 mom | Glad to see Laurie - From: Second weekend I finally get to see Laurie, even though less than 2 seconds! It looks beautiful and so busy. Can't wait to see close ups of the square. I never taught you to cut towards your thumb because of my EC training. Your grandmother could cut that way and did. Your greatgrandmother always cut that way. Sorry I made you culturally deficient. The Du'Chens must wonder at the cultural differences. Love you, Mom |
| 5th October 2008 Aunt Deb | How exciting! - From: Starting work... Cari Ann, Your teaching start sounds fabulous. How scary it must have been though to have such heavy questions right at the start. Sounds like an intellectual bunch of kids. Anxious to hear about your living arrangements and any social events you participate in....this is as close to France as I will probably ever come. Be safe and enjoy every minute of this wonderful adventure. Love, Aunt Deb |
| 4th October 2008 mom | Sounds so great! - From: Starting work... Even though we talk by phone, I like reading it. I get a chance to remember all you've described. The class sounds challenging. What interesting questions! Glad you defended us knowledge of other countries, but of course they were right about some people. But maybe the same could be said about them. There has been mention here about the effects of our economy crisis on French economic system. Looks like the dollar is going down. The ideas about transfer sound ever better now. Good luck with the apartment. Our fingers are crossed for you. Love ya, MOM |
| 29th September 2008 Alison (Cari's Mom) | Glad you are having such a great time - From: Settling In It sounds so wonderful. You are lucky to have made such good friends with the DuChens (spelling problem). You have had homemade scalloped potatoes at home. Just so everyone doesn't think I can't cook anything. I hope you are able to find arrangements for living soon. I know it will help you feel settled in. It seems like your days are so full of new and exciting things. And I thought you'd be finished with skating some day. I guess some day hasn't come yet. Good luck this week with starting your new job. You are such a talented teacher. The students are lucky to get you. Asked UPS about packages to send the things you left behind. They estimated $200 so I'll check with the post office. Looks like you may be picking up those things at Christmas. We love you and think of you all the time. Thank the DuChen's for the use of their phone. It is so good to hear your voice. Love, Mom |
