Helo our travelling friends! Hey guys and the Better halves ...:)
Once again a captivating edition to the Cliff Blogs 2010:)
Had to laugh at the no menu $20 kebabs as it reminded me of what happened when Gooma, Natalia and I went down to StKilda and decided to indulge in a shared soft serve icecream cone from a ratty looking icecream van man...no prices displayed but thinking nothing of it we ordered one plain vanilla cone. Handed over my 5 dollar note and stood waiting for my change.. the guy stares at me and says" thats it"...I say "yes thats all i want" still waiting on my change... he says "no thats it, thats how much it is "..... I walk away and Goom asks how much it was... 5 fricken bucks for a measley icrecream cone that now tasted sour rather than sweet.... Funny enough we say two guys walking prams and asked them how much their cones were.. they responded " we were just discussing that, bloody expensive"... so the moral of the story AVOID places with NO prices displayed (especially the overweight man selling icecreams in stkilda)....
Any ways......... loved your blog.. Natalia, Mummy V and Daddy V are all doing brilliantly and await more news from ya all:)
Love Karolina, Gooma and Natalia
about time! ok may have taken longer than usual but worth the wait, market shopping sounds the same as in Egypt! Blue Cave looks awesome, take it easy, I'll be waiting for the next update, please ensure it doesn't take as long to be posted this time :) jen xo
ok I'll tell you after watching the video of you skiing...yes you look the part, as for skill might need some more practise...this coming from the one who dislocated her elbow snow boarding! Good to have you home if only for a short break, hopefully next time we can see Chris too.
Love the pics HIYA guys!
Long time no speak.. its fair to say I have been locked away in the house adjusting to life as a mummy. Boy, I never expected it to be so constant and so little shut eye...
I would love to escape for a day to the Austrian slopes with you guys, the fresh mountain air, feeling of freedom and the exhiliration when you head down the mountian... sounds like you did a pretty damn good job seeing that you have only skiied a couple of time Cliff:)
No doubt Goom is keeping you guys updated.. this is a rare moment where Natalia is actually napping during the day.. so had a moment to say gday:)
Love to you both (mrs V , mr V and little miss v)
Cool I like the fact that a 3 year old kid zooms past you when you are skiiing, thank you for the snow angel and more people should be eating pretzels over there - soak up some of the beer - you are leading such an ordinary life at the moment!! Seroiusly, its great to see you making the most of your time - will conjure up some great stories when you are Nans age!! Might see you on Thursday, Nik
Textile Free...... Howdy Erin, Yep loving München, alot! You know you are always welcome to join us for a textile free day if you make it over here!!! Hope all is cool over your way. xoxox Ryan
hi Guys,
Good to hear you are enjoying Munchen! It is such a cool city and I am very jealous of you being able to duck down to Austria for the day. Keep having fun with the textile free swimming sessions!
HELLO ! HI Guys!
Thanks for your blogs Cliffy .... keeping us entertained and amazed! I love the photos (the snow looks stunning) Photo 25 of the roof tops is amazing!
Disappointing there werent any photos of the "therme"saunas... (he, he)... Dont know if you guys had anything on the news about the famous photographer who takes naked photos of people all over the world. Well, around 5000 crazy Sydneysiders nuded down in the cold and had their photos taken in a group on the steps of the Opera House. Was pretty weird seeing all the naked white bums on telly.
Guess what... ? Baby V is officially overdue today! My due date was the 2nd of March.. we are waiting in anticipation for the arrival of either the Prince of Ceylon or the Princess of Poland.
Thinking of you guys and so great to hear your having a BALL!
Love Karolina and Gooma and the very comfortable Baby V xo
Sprechen Sie Deutsch! Helo Cliffy and Chris!
Congrats on your 84 % achievement in your first exam. That is no easy feat considering the Germans are harder markers! Your a champ!
I love the photos an dcant even imagine how cold it is (though I really think that the beauty of the white snow and surroundings counteracts the cold).
Today was my last day of work.. yep Im officially on maternity leave. As Goom says "Im a lady of leisure" I remind him that if that was so I would be out having a pinacoloda and dancing on some tables. Try doing that with atleast 7 kgs of baby stuff inside you!
Love hearing your updates and was bummed I was in the office when you got chatting on SKYPE!... Crappola! Let me know when we can all chat!
Love Mrs V and Mr V and soon very very soon Baby V!
Oh, and here I was thinking that long hair suited you and then a couple of photos all chopped off!!
Looks and sounds like you're having a ball, snow is sooo beautiful.. but yes cold, so best play in it rather than just suffer it!
Chant xx
Unco I think thats the first time I have seen you do something sporting and look a bit unco (the sled...) blame the bump you hit! and you look much younger with your haircut...hope that continues for you as you hit the 40's in a few years...glad you are having a top time - make a snow angel for me!! Nik

Peru - Salkantay Trek Hi Mackenzie, we had a great tour gróup but a terrible tour company. What you find is that when you sign up for your trek is that all of the tour agencies book you into the same tour company. In our tour group of 14 people, no one booked with the same agency. The trek is amazing and certainly worthwhile (and much much cheaper than the Inca Trail - I have done both and the Inca is best but for the extra $300.....maybe not).
My recommendation is to book the Salkantay Trek when you get to Cusco. You can book one day and travel the next...easily! There is absolutely no need to book in advance there are sooooo many options when you get to Cusco. Also, booking in advance will probably mean that you will pay a lot more. We had some Belgian girls on our trek that paid over USD$480 for the trek and we paid $170 2 days prior.
You'll have an amazing time....better start training though..day 2 is a killer!
Write me if you need anything else.
Ryan
Hi -
I'm going to be in Peru in May and want to do the Salkantay trail. Thanks for the great travel report. It sounds like you had a good experience and were with a good tour group. I'm wondering if you could tell me who you went with?? Thanks!
-Mackenzie
Thank you!!!! Hi Chris and Cliff,
I have been avidly reading your blogs from my desk at work in Brisbane with a wistful look on my face. Your adventures sound amazing and the acute keeness I had to travel South America has tripled at least! I hope both of you enjoy being in Munchen, finding a home and kicking off with work. Do me a favour though and sidle across the border into Kitzbuel Austria later this month for Hannekamm for some downhill action (I love that they just put a case of beer on the snow for the duration and everyone has hooked into he schnapps before 8:00am!) or maybe even a couple of boarding runs in Hopfgarten to make me really jealous! Keep in touch and keep writing Munchen based blogs! Erin
Blogs will continue! And it seems that the cold weather will also continue. We made it München yersterday and it snowed over night. The temps have not seen positive numbers yet! Hope Nicaragua is good and hope it is raining heavily.
Danke, danke, danke. It was a great waz to end our trip (the beach that is, not the crucifix above the bed!). We are in Munich now, complete with snow and subzero temps. Looking for a flat etc Reality is striking back big time! Hope you are well.
My goodness- great NY Blogg! So fantastic to see you all- Chris! Cliff ! Carrie! You all look so well and Cliff your long hairdo is MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATHIVE....the Fonz or what! What a journey! The end of your journey:) Hi Cliffy and Chris!
What an amazing journey you have taken us over the last 3 and half months. I feel like Ive read a novel!
That monkey video is classic! (Flavias lucky all they got was an apple... when we went to Thailand the monkeys were nortorious for stealing cameras and taking happy snaps)
Mmm coconut prawns sound so yummo!
Your last beach destination sounded like the perfect end to your travels.. with the tranquility, beach, tanning, food, reading and body surfing:) Love the photos!
Love to your both Mrs V and Mr V (The Velayuthens) xox P.S hoping the next language learning phase is lots of fun and you pick it up super quick! xo
