Where in the world would i like to be...........

Capey

I am 32 years old who has had the desire to travel the world for as long as i can remember.... having 4 months of work to embark on a 4 month Journey through Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and finally Fiji - i have chosen destinations where ive always wanted to travel to and lucky for me they form a cost effective RTW fare with Quantas
My interests in life are going to the gym, travelling and the love of my life, my dog!! The reason i can go for only 3 months is that my mum aka flo will only dog & house sit for this length of time....
So the story begins....................................................

Id been already warned that id fall in Love with this place, and on arrival i coudl see why, a town situated on the lake, geared for tourism, but in the summer they have so many adventure sports to do and then winter in turns into a ski resort - heavan !!! before i got to Queenstown, one thing i had decided was if i was gonna do a skydive it would be here, so after checking into our campsite - another top 10 site, which are amazing for 10 quid a night we headed on down to the town to book... well after a couple of beers and a long walk round town i headed into N zone and booked a 9,000ft skydive and Shotover Jet for the next day... Byron Bay was definitly one of my favourite places for Australia, with its laid back hippy vibe, my 2 nights were amazing !! staying at the Arts Factory in a 8 bed Teepee which overlooked the lake was awesome, there was just 3 of us in there and the other were from Leeds ( Random), arriving quite later i had a walk round then chilled out in the bar area, the resort was full of shops, restuarants and accommodation, the beach was amazing, white sands and high waves for the surfers !!! Definitly a place id go back to !! on the way up to Brisbane i called in at Surfers Paradise, which has a big wide beach but then high rise hotels along the front, reminded my a bit of benidorm.. On dropping the car ... read more

After leaving Port Maquarie my next port of call was Coffs Harbour... after a 2 hour drive in a my little automatic - which im now seriously thinking of getting when im home, the ease of an automatic !!! After the let of of Lonely planet and the YHA in Port Macquarie i decided i needed a motel tonight, my own space... so after reviewing the lonely planets and Motel accommodation i headed ofr Heuy Meuy Backpackers - the quieter end of Coffs harbour located right on the beach, on arrival pulling onto the car park i scraped my car - bollocks 350 dollar excess..... The motel seemed really nice, a nice restuarant with cheap meals, good bar and hotel room was ok, and most of all it was all for me !!! I decided to ... read more

So in picking up my car - in which they thought they were doing me a favour in upgrading me to an automatic - ahhhh ive never drove one, never mind getting me out of Sydney in one - i survived and headed onto my 100km drive up the Pacific Highway to Brisbane, prepared to hit floods, rain etc i was off !! The automic proved very easy to drive and within an hour i was back into the ease of driving - one thing for sure is that the Australians have NO decent radio stations - arrghh this was gonna be a long 6 days !! ha My first stop was to be Nelson Bay in Port Stephens, apparantly should of been the Sydney of its day but due to the English Guy who rocked ... read more

On arrival into Sydney off my flight which went via Melbourne, you all off sudden think youve been here before !!! My Airport transfer to the Y hotel on Hyde Park took about 15 min, i was sharing a dorm room with 2 other girls, the rooms here were great, no bunk beds, only 4 beds in a room and linen and towel change EVERYDAY, yes everyday thats a luxury on this backpackerISH lifestyle... Walking around Sydney is just like London, except more spacious, alot safer and seems to take all the good things out of London and puts them into Sydney, all round Oz and especially around Sydney streets, buidlings, towns etc are all named after English areas - Hyde Park, newcastle, Derby etc... The opera house was amazing, however is was slightly disappointed by ... read more

After a wonder around Darwin i realased there was very little to do, it is the largest city in northern terrority but its no bigger than ripley but with a higher buildings and by the sea, so after a day walking round in the sun, i headed t mindi beach to watch the sunset and have some ... read more

I arranged to meet a girl called Sam who was from america but lived in bali the next day to do the usual sight seeing... Surprisingly i slept very well in my little box room!! We ... read more

For xmas we bookd a nice 4 star hotel and spa in Haad Salad the quieter part of the island, infact the main concrete road around the island stops here as apparantly the goverment wont continue it as there arent enough tourists that go up here !! The hotel was nice more like a 3 star and it was nice to have the simpliar things back - i.e space, TV and a normal bathroom and no Wet Room. The hotel was really quiet so we had the pool to ourselves on the first day, Haad salad is basically a small bay with various restaurants and huts along the beach, with blue waters and rainforest hills - pretty much the same as most of the beach resorts in thailand... We still havent got mopeds, we was planning ... read more
