National Archives D of I Constitution Bill of Rights and Magna Carta. Tea Party. Holocaust Museum finally able to see the perm exhibit. Parade. Holocaust Museum Daniel's Story exhibit http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/District-of-Columbia/blog-414949.html We drove down to historic Charleston and began a walking tour. We visited the historic market area viewed Rainbow Row and the Batteries that fired on Fort Sumter. Cannon and I had visited Fort Sumter last year with the Webelos so we didn't go out there.We arrived back at the car around 2PM and started driving to Savannah. didn't take us long to decide the 8 hour drive home sounded really nic http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/South-Carolina/Charleston/blog-416213.html We had planned to go to the Outer Banks and camp on the beach for two days but after 4 weeks of beautiful weather we hit our first rain and the forcast continued for several days.We changed our plan and drove into North Carolina .... Hit the Vistor Center and didn't find anything very exciting on our drive path so continued to South Carolina and decided to visit Charleston. We left Williamsburg in the morning and headed to BWI to pick up Mary.She arrived at 11.30 and we headed to the Marriott. Unloaded and jumped onto the Metro to head to the Mall. As we exited the Metro it was raining and we headed for the first Smithsonian building Natural History. 2 hours and we were off to see the Monuments Lincoln Vietnam and WW2. A very nice beach and built sand Throwns. We were on the beach before 8AM and left it around 121. Stopped to build a present for mom out of shells and hit the road toward Williamsburg. Before Cannon woke up I went down to the lake and took some great shots of the canoes. See attached.We left Appomattox early in the morning and hit VA Beach at noon. We spent 4 hours on the beach enjoying the water and views. Then Pizza to go and a quick drive to our campgrounds at First Landing State Park. This is the area that the founders of Jamestown landed. No photos as the camera battery finally died. We left The Rivermen in West Virginia early in the morning and drove backroads thru Virginia toward Appomattox. The country side was beautiful and I know why my parents had a hard time deciding if they were to retire from the Air Force in Nebraska or Virginia. I woke early and dug out our clothes for a 4.5 hour cave tour where cannon and I would crawl through small caves.We had to have jeans boots over our ankles gloves and kneepads.Well... Here lies the problem. Dad could only find one of his boots. I wore them Friday but where can it be. I tore the car apart. The boys took it on and had a blast. That said I was scared less. Photos will have to be posted after the trip as they are on a waterproof camera but we jumped from cliffs. floated the river intentionally and paddled until we couldn't do it anymore. One thing that does motivate you is ROCKS.
