I have been putting off doing this blog for such a long time. Now we are more settled and back into the swing of things I thought I should finish it off. This is the end of an amazing, unforgettable chapter in our lives. So many memories to treasure forever.... so here it is.... My last string from the trip of a lifetime....... We really wanted a great last week and picking up a hire car and heading on an American road trip to San Francisco from Vegas was our way of reliving the amazing New Zealand adventures we had in our campervan and being free again. We headed to Vegas' airport and over to Thrifty. We didn't really know what car to choose so we went for their lucky dip option. Meaning whatever car was ... read more

To be honest with you all, I've been dreading starting this blog. I don't know if it's because we are home and the whole 'back to reality' is setting in or I just don't know where to start with Vegas.....But I don't want to put it off any longer.... We were incredibly excited about Vegas and spent ages over the million dollar question - Where are we going to stay? Eventually, just before we left New Zealand I booked Polo Towers Hotel. It had a brilliant rate for the nine nights we would be spending in Vegas. It ended up just being mid way down the strip which was perfect locationally. We even had a strip view from our huge balcony! It had a little kitchenette, (which was great in case Andy spent all the money ... read more

We have been so busy over the last few weeks I'm not sure whether this blog will be finished in America or back home. At the time of writing we are in San Francisco!! Probably be back home as this coin operated computer has no USB ports. America has been one of those places I've always wanted to come too, simply out of curiosity. Is it like on the films? Are there really silicone barbies living in LA? Do handbag dogs exist? Are American names really as crazy as some of the celeb ones? Do we have such different sense of humour? The answers are NO, KIND OF, YES, YES (Cosmo!) and YES. I've found that Americans can be really abrupt and say things quite harshly even though it's not meant that way. Our flight to ... read more

We have had the most amazing time in Fiji, we head to Los Angeles tonight so I’m really pleased I’ve got time to tell you all about what we’ve been up too! We were late arriving into Fiji as Air Pacific had changed our flight and then that one was still 40 minutes later than planned. The Tonga rugby team were arriving and the airport was in chaos as all of their fans had taken over. While we were all sat at the gate the crew for our plane were still stuck in traffic! When we finally got going the flight was quite comfortable – better than Jetstar! We picked up our Welcome Pack with the company Awesome Adventures when we landed. We booked the Bula Combo Pass with them for two weeks. The price included ... read more

This is my final blog for NZ, so I've got a lot to cram in. I was going to make it 3 blogs for the North Island but there's no time as we fly to Fiji today! We headed to Taupo after Rotorua stopping to admire the Huka Falls along the way. The stunning falls are the spot where New Zealand's largest river, the Waikato - which has only just been born from Lake Taupo. The river slams into a narrow chasm, making a dramatic 10m drop into the surging pool. As we crossed over the footbridge it was incredible to see how fast the river was flowing - it made me feel a bit dizzy! Arriving in Taupo I knew I'd love the place after we easily found our first bit of 'proper' freedom camping ... read more

Prepare to be drowning in blogs over the next few days as I have a lot to write about before we head to Fiji on Monday. We had a normal ferry crossing to the North Island - a little rough in places. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be with all the bad weather we had been hearing about - we worried that the ferry would even go. The captain of the ferry came along to talk to some people and he said it was the first time he had seen snow on the mountains in the North Island for 25 years. We could see the mountains from the window. The ferry drops you off right in the heart of Wellington, we were excited to finally be in NZ's capital city. I really ... read more

After Queenstown, we made our way to Wanaka. There was stunning valley views as we made our way from the south of the region. The area is full of activities but it is a lot quieter than adrenaline pumped Queenstown. While we were here we stayed in Albert Town at a campsite and visited Puzzling World which was great fun. It started out as just a maze in 1973 by Stuart Landsborough and his wife and has since expanded into a big tourist attraction. Driving into the car park we could see a leaning clock tower which they call the Leaning Tower of Wanaka. The tower uncluding it’s base has been pulled out of the ground and balanced on one corner at an unbelievable 53 degrees. Just to note the infamous leaning Tower of Pisa leans ... read more

We've been really busy - as usual - so I'm a bit behind the blogs, here's the next one....... After Mount Cook we headed down to Dunedin to meet up with Tom and Linsey - who we'd met in Australia. They had messaged us to say they would be in the city in the evening so Andy and I did a bit of exploring........ We first went to the world's steepest residential street - Baldwin Street. It's even in the guiness book of records as the 35% gradient = 1:2.86 !! We left the Chaser down at the bottom, thank goodness because that street was steep!! We climbed our way to the top (they even had steps to help). Apparently they have marathons up and down it every year and the local Cadbury World holds a ... read more

It's been over two weeks since we landed in Christchurch and it's probably been the quickest two weeks of the whole trip so far! It's probably because we have been so busy. Before I start on New Zealand blogs I'll tell you a funny fact about the country that a kiwi told me in Oz. There are 4 million people in New Zealand and 40 million sheep!! I thought they were joking but there are sooooo many sheep! Prepare to see many many scenery pictures, the landscape here is out of this world and the pictures don't really do it justice! It's incredible and we are seeing the country the best way you can - by campervan! We landed in Christchurch in the middle of the night so just got a taxi to our hostel. The ... read more

Well everyone we are in New Zealand now and have already said our goodbyes to Australia. This is the last blog in Oz, hope you enjoy - it's a good one! Arriving in Melbourne was brilliant after an exhausting bus journey from Sydney. Our last ever overnight bus! Yipeee! We had big plans for Melbourne! After getting settled in to our hostel rooms we met up with some familiar faces - Tom and Linsey, the English couple we met whilst in Cairns! Throughout the whole Oz trip Linsey and I had been messaging eachother on facebook to see if we could meet up along the way but didn't get the chance until Melbourne. They had a few days left in Oz before flying to NZ to pick up another camper and continue their adventures. It was ... read more
