We are so happy to hear from you! OK, now we can relax....not that we were worried about your traveling throughout Indian or Nepal, we had concern about your Maoist ideas and are relieved to know you used good sense. I have so many questions to ask you about your stay in Benares on both occasions so will wait to read the rest of your blog. What is arrival date here or are you staying longer? Your dad and I are having the property cleared next week so for the first time in 45 years, we will be able to look straight down the property to see our own waterfront without having to look south. I don't know why your grandparents never cleared it. Your dad thought that once we moved out of the bathroomless cabin, grandma never wanted to look back. She was ready to live in their new home above. We should have the deed next week. If you make it home by the 19th and have energy to drive with us to Arizona, you are welcome to come along. More later on that. Closing for now. Of course we all miss you...continue to travel safely as you have been doing. Good that you are keeping healthy. Mom
Where the hell are you? I think it's about time for a new update. When too much time elapses it warrants a "freak out" so do your best to let us know you're okay please. XOXO Keri
Hey Pete! Been a while since i've checked this thing, and it's good to hear you're doing so well! I'm jealous, white sand beaches etc. I could use a little paradise too... Oh well, sometime. Yea, the game was definitely odd, I found myself alternately pulling for the pats then the g-men. Kinda boring up til the fourth quarter tho... well are you coming back in march or april now? when you do come back we've got a couch for you to crash on, we moved up to 94th and stone, about 10 blocks from Greenlake, nice place... But anyhow, gotta go and eat lunch, looking forward to more posts!
Hmmmm..... Well, I'm still alive...? :) But how can they be poisenous?? They were soooo cute!! But in all seriousness, they could have been poisenous, but I can' say I've had any issues. I'll just have to take it day by day...
I too was rooting for the Pats...your dad the Giants...not that I knew anything about anything. I just wanted the to be undefeated champs. Goa sounds nice...we will have to come one day...find a house for us to buy? Jelly fish sting!! When, where, how, what kind? Watch your bags under the Retrograde especially in Goa on the beach...you know.
Love,
Mom
Gut issues Dear, dear, we are sorry to hear when any of you are fighting gut issues. Peter, we suggest that you take about 4 days in a row of antibiotics if not more. Be careful about what you are drinking....especially drinks made with water - smoothies, etc.. I'll be about ready to go on a liver cleanse with you when you return.
Your body pains 'could' be from sun poisoning? Do your bones ache?
Have you been in any of our Vedanta Ashrams yet to say hello to the swami's? Might be a good introduction as to what your experience will be like in Benares....I am certain you will see Ramchandra....please say hello to him for us and tell him we are coming end of the year. He will take you everywhere you want to go and especially to Saranat where Buddha gave his first talk. Even at his age, he is always in a hurry so ask him to be patient and tell him you wish to take your time when you visit places. (good luck!) Also if you have time, see if he can arrange to take you out into the country (a 3 hour drive) to 3 auspicious temples he took us to; one where Sw. B's guru had the vision of Thakur...more later on that. You can now get into the Golden Temple but must show your passport; he will help you...please do not walk through the MAZE in Benares near the river until you know how to get back out. Your dad and I did that on our way to the Ganga and got very lost! Very lost indeed and it took some time to find our way out and it was getting dark. Not so good. You will be amazed at watching Arati now done on the banks of the river!! Lots of fire and noise...and people! Quite impressive. Ramchandra will get you up front; he knows all the pujari's; as you know he used to be a priest at the Golden Temple with his brothers before him. Helps to know someone in Benares. Also a boat trip at sunrise for great photos is a must....you will remember all these things when you return to this most holiest of cities...Shiva's abode! Most of all please remember to give Ananda Maharaj our love and sincere pranams!! Looking forward to reading your Benares/Varanasi experience soon.
Weather here is dismal - snow, rain, wind and sun all sometimes in a day. OK this should have come to you in an email....stopping for now. All is well here.
Love,
Mom and Dad
it makes me a little sad that the place has grown up so much. i remember being able to find a spot down the beach without anyone else in sight which helped to magnify the beauty and stillness of the place. and no more open-aired cafes on the sand? sigh....
Riding motor cycles in India??? EEEGADS!!!! Now I know you have spent too much time in the sun!!!! And speaking of the sun, be mindful of mixing too much sun with taking antibiotics.
Sounds like all is going well...I'm sure you are kidding about riding those Indian motor cycles???? You were....WEREN'T you??? Oh dear!
Hi Sweetie,
Mercury is Retrograde from Jan. 28th to Feb. 19th...I am working my way backwards in reading and responding to your blogs...and will now forward your blog address to others. Sounds like you are having a lot of fun, keeping safe and I am happy the 3 of you make a great team together. More later,
Your ever loving mom and dad,
Ma and Pa
Peter,
Now I am reading through your blogs and catching up...what you describle regarding Mocha reminds me of our trek through Egypt. These comfy coffee, hooka (tobacco), and outdoor living rooms are quite charming. As you know, we don't endorse the smoking components of these sit ins....
Also you might want to download Picasa for your pictures; not sure if it will go faster for you, but you don't have to downsize your photos first. Dad and I will check out your MySpace soon to see your photos.
How I love India...I can't wait to come again!
Love,
Mom
Hey Peter,
Good to read your blog and to see that you are keeping up with it. Makes your dad and I happy to read how your journey is going, hence I worry less. I have read only this one so far.
Sounds like you are dealing with the stomach issues quickly? Hope so at least. Do take your time meeting people you don't know well...and remain somewhat guarded. About the fast pace of the film industry in India, it would be good to talk to folks outside the film industry who can shed some light on what goes on there and what nonsense to look out for. Please don't be led quickly by charm, money or fame!
However, living in India of course as you know, sounds wonderful to me; with your dad and I entertaining the idea of buying a condo there - as prices go down in the US, they are rising in India.
If you see an antique or beautiful copper 'Neti Pot'....small and easy to bring back, I would like to have one....I guess I can get one myself when we come to India end of the year. They would make great gifts for your friends too.
We are at Grandma's now; she looks quite good. Last night for dinner with Steve and Kriseda, she shared the bottle of white wine you sent to her. It was DEVINE!! Really. After she had opened it and I suggested what I thought you might have paid for it, she laughted and said, 'Now you tell me....maybe I should hide it'....then I laughed and told her - 'with the bottles you gave us for our birthdays - we did'!! The label you had made for her on the bottle was very sweet and made her quite happy.
Your dad is getting his teeth worked on bro Steve...he is really going to look quite different when he is finished!!! Very different indeed. He showed us the models. He is going to adhere a type of enamal bond to build up all the enamel on each tooth to make his teeth longer and normal as they should be. They are now very short and in time will cause problems with the nerves inside the tooth.
Will close for now...keep healthy and safe and have a continued wonderful trip.
Love to you,
Mom
Ahoy Travelers! Hey guys!! I am so glad you made it safely to your destination and that you're already wandering around and having fun! I can't wait for some pictures!! Love you!
Thanks for the delightful account of your first few in foreign domain. Brings back memories. Keep the play-by-plays coming, it helps to pass the hours for those of us stuck in office cubicles with no masala dosa for miles. Be safe. xo
