Today was the day which we had been ever so slightly nervous/excited/absolutely-wetting-ourselves about! SKYDIVING!! Before the event however we had a date with some more steaming mud pools! loooovley!! and a geyser which with the help of some washing powder went off at 10.15am shooting massive jets of water into the air! Next stop was another photo opportunity at the spectacular Hukka falls which were so beautiful! Then just to make us more nervous we watched some of our fellow bus buddies do a bungy jump in a canyon before we were dropped at the air field! Because practically the whole bus were diving we had to wait for what felt like an eternity until we could get suited up and strapped to our dive masters!! Today we said goodbye to the land of Oz and enjoyed yet more plane food on our 2 flights to New Zealand!! We arrived in the early hours of the morning and so just crashed in the hostel before checking out the next morning to explore some of the city! Becky's toe was still very much there and very painful so the walk up the hill to the next hostel was interesting but we managed to check in and book ourselves onto the Magic Bus for the following morning to begin our NZ adventure!! ... read more

We caught the Greyhound for the last time and made our way to our final stop in Australia...Cairns!! Unfortunately the weather still hadn't sorted itself out and so when we arrived in Cairns Becky now limping in her poncho was in need of some medical attention so we decided to spend the afternoon in Triage!! As is normally the case for us we attracted a rather unusual character in the waiting room....dressed only in a towel with ribbons draped across him he had caught his finger in a ceiling fan whilst washing in the shower and possibly slightly high!! After all the entertainment Becky was released with a pair of beautiful crutches and so she hopped kangaroo style back to the hostel! Today was a fairly relaxed day, we walked into the 'town' and sat by the harbour for lunch and caught up on some internet as the weather once again was not perfect! That evening however Camilla's worse fears were confirmed as the mysterious bites on Camilla's arm had now multiplied producing a grand total of 92 bites!! Either a killer mosquito was on the loose or it was bed bugs! yummy! Anti-histamined up we went down to the bar and this time upgraded to bottled red wine and spent the evening with 4 Welsh girls who much to Elin's delight were Welsh speakers and friends of friends! small world!!... read more

At 7am Camilla and Becky decided to get up for the final snorkel which after a long swim was a little disappointing except for a giant bright blue starfish! We returned to a refreshed Elin and we had breakfast before beginning the sail back to Airlie Beach! We said goodbye to our fellow sailors and crew and walked back to the hostel for a much needed shower!! We spent a very tiresome afternoon with the washing machine before heading out for the afterparty with our shipmates! We enjoyed free pizza and beer and Elin came so close to winning a limbo competition worth $25 (nearly 5 days budget!!!) before returning back our teen-spirit filled room of 18-year old Australians on Spring Break!
