Summer Holiday in London and Paris Day 1 We started our first European holiday by boarding the morning Airasia direct flight from Sibu to Kuala Lumpur. Being there too early for the mid-night flight to London, we tried our luck for the Golden Lounge of Malaysian Airlines. I have about 21,000 Enrich points and 3 of us would need 8,000pts x 3 to enter. To our delight, the staff was kind enough to let my 14 yr Michelle in as accompanying child. What a privilege it was as an Enrich member. The Golden Lounge was more relaxing than checking into the Airside Hotel in the KLIA Satellite building which I have made a reservation earlier without confirmation. Eat and drink all you can with bathroom facilities. Michelle had a great time going online msn with her ... read more

Short Stay in Himeji and Awaji, Japan This is my second trip to Japan after I landed in Kyushu Island in 2007. It is definitely a trip worth looking forward to considering the pleasant culture, people and food there. Day 1 21 Oct It took about six and half hours in the early morning to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kansai International airport, Osaka. Kansai is actually located on an island off Osaka. The temperature outside the airport terminal was 'cool' at 18C. I was immediately overwhelmed by Japanese wording and signs all around though most are with English translations. Officers were not we'll versed with English but could easily overcome by sign languages. At 0845, I took the Kansai Airport Haruka Limited Express from Kansai to Shin-Osaka and boarded Shinkansen Hikari Super Express to Himeji ... read more

South Korea Trip Day 1 Arrive in Seoul/Ulsan I took the 0810 flight to Kota Kinabalu and board Korean Air at 0010. Arived at Incheon Airport Seoul at around 0700 (An hour ahead of Malaysian time). I took a bus for a transfer to Gimpo Airport, the domestic airport for a connecting flight to Ulsan, which was about 45 minutes flight from Seoul. Ulsan is a coastal city and the view approaching it from the plane was magnificent. I was received by the Ulsan City officers on arrival and they had kindly provided shuttle service to the official hotel of the conference - Hyundai Hotel, Ulsan. The journey took about 50 minutes where we passed the port which has a part of it full with nicely lined up Hyundai automobile. What a view at this very ... read more

Short Mission Trip to Ban Nam Khem, South Thailand Day 1 - 17 Mar 2008 Departed Sibu on time by Airasia to Phuket via KL. The ride on Airasia is hussle free except the usual rush for seats. Airasia should seriously consider investing seat allocation system at least it avoids the ugly kiasu scene. We were met by a prebooked friendly driver who took us to Ban Nam Khem in about an hour and fourty five minutes. The missionaries' house was comfortable though the weather was unbearably warm and humid like any other tropical dwelling. Elke is from Germany, Helen is from NZ while Maria is from Switzerland for just barely a week. Our ladies stayed with the missionaries while the men stayed next door in the chapel. The house and the chapel were located by ... read more

Day 1 - Sibu to Miri We anticipated a long journey to Kota Kinabalu or KK in short when we started our trip by coach bus from Sibu to Miri and to KK via AirAsia from Miri. The bus connection is really due to the high cost of air travel imposed by ‘Mas Wing’ where cost is more expensive than the former Fax. That is one of the setbacks of MAS rationalization exercise to domestic sector. Anyway, it helps the road transport sector as the bus company told me that it started to see some profits only this year after suffering losses from the past six years they were engaged in the business. The bus departed from Sibu at 8.30 p.m. We made a short stops mainly for toilets at Selangau and Batu Niah before ... read more

Day 1 The group checked in early at about 0800 for the 0925 AirAsia flight to KL. Check in was smooth with all bulky boxes getting through with no sweat. Arrived in LCCT KL at around 1110 with all luggage retrieved on transit. That's the setback of boarding a low cost carrier as they do not provide luggage check in all through to the final destination. Well, I believe that’s one thing that we all must bear with for lower ticket cost. The Phnom Penh Airport’s arrival hall is quite small with a small duty free shop. Car park is right at the doorsteps of the arrival hall. We visited the Cambodia Methodist School on the way to hand over three boxes of used school equipment to Stephen Yeo who was a retired teacher of SMK ... read more

Day 1(26/9) From Sibu - Bangkok - Pattaya Departed by Airasia from Sibu to Kuala Lumpur (0925-1125).The flight to Bangkok took around 2 hours as well (1610-1725) - remember that Bangkok is an hour earlier than Malaysian time. Airasia was surprisingly on time and arrived in Bangkok 10 minutes earlier. We were met by Mr. Liang, a Thai Chinese tourist guide at Gate 8 at level 2 of the arrival hall at the new Suvarnabhumi International Airport. We headed straight to Pattaya as scheduled which took us around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Everyone was hungry and had a sumptuous dinner a local restaurant. We checked into Golden Beach Hotel at around 9.30pm. Nothing much that we could do as the night is quite late….retired to bed around 11.00pm. Day 2 (27/9) Kho Lan Island and Nong ... read more

KIN4 meeting landed me in Japan for the first time in June 2007. It wasn't a smooth journey considering it took almost a day to reach Kitakyushu from Sibu, my lovely hometown in Malaysia. I took Malaysia Airlines from Sibu to Kuala Lumpur at 1150 on 23/7, the capital City of Malaysia. From Malaysia, I took Thai Airways to Bangkok and onward to Fukuoka International Airport in Japan after few hours transit. It was 0800 upon arrival in Fukuoka. A bus took us from the airport at 0930 to Kitakyushu. We arrived at about 1110 on 24/7 at Kokura Station, Kitakyushu.JR Kyushu's Kokura Station is the main rail hub of Kitakyushu, and the Sanyo Shinkansen stops there. Our hotel, Royal Righa Hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Kokura Station. It is strict with the check-in ... read more
