a point.. - From: 10 Days in Cambodia
just flicking through some cambodian blogs here ( I live here ) if your interested in Cambodian history I would ike to point out that it was A LOT of bombs that america dropped on the khmers, 100,000 tons of bombs in fact, the equivilant of 5 hiroshamas, illegally, on imaginary viet cong bases. they bombed neutral cambodia into the stone age, literaly. the reason behind this was in nixons own words.."to show those vietnamese how tough we really are" ... It was anger against this and fear of it happening again which gave support to the previously unpopular khmer rouge. In a bid bid to win back power over lon nols governmnt, the king seized this opportunity to give support to the rising khmer rouge and the ranks then swelled. when they gained power the khmer rouge would force him out again. if you decide to use this info In your blog, I will back up this with evidence if you like. thanks ben

What an incredible adventure - thank you so much for sharing it with us - From: 10 Days in Cambodia
Wow - I am in awe of all that you are experiencing in your travels - your accounts of the time spent exploring Cambodia are incredible. Thank you so much for sharing information and the amazing photos. While it may be a bit hard to find in Palm Springs, I will be looking for a Cambodian restaurant in Southern California to try the fish amok. I also promise to visit the website of the lighthouse orphanage. Thank you for expanding our awareness of the world. I wish you both continued safe travel and, to borrow what is obviously a local favorite phrase, I wish you good luck in your life! Thanks so much for continuing to send us updates - Your friend, Elise

Elise is doing her job - From: Chiang Mai Update
I just wanted you to know that Elise sends your updates around to all of your friends here at the PSCC. I must admit that I am currently living numerous awful mornings at my current job where I walk in to hear about all the new crises that have to be addressed immediately, the stresses, the things that as an employee I care deeply about... I hope Jim Dunn isn't reading this. :) Do you have any teaching jobs available??? I am still glad to see that not only can you hold a beer in each hand but you are now able to hold 2 beers in one hand. It must be amazing to have learned as much has you have. So, as you can see, I haven't lost my sarcasm. Hopefully, you'll make it back here some day so we can hear all about your adventures in person. You are missed...

Thank you, Elise! - From: Chiang Mai Update
Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad to hear you celebrated the 4th with the Power. We definitely miss them and all of you at the center. Please pass on my well wishes there! Sorry to hear of the heat! We have our own here too. Not as hot but surely humid. I think I will freeze when I leave this climate, I'm so used to the heat and aircon is a rare luxury. Much love - Claire

Sounds like your time in Thailand continues to be amazing, - what an incredible, life-changing experience. Glad to know you celebrated Independence Day, albeit on the 3rd of July - and that you are continuing to make new friends and enjoy adventures. BTW, we went to PS Power Baseball game on the 4th - played Air Force and won - enjoyed a flyover and amazing fireworks display. Thank heavens for the misters as it was a VERY warm evening. We miss you here in Palm Springs, but are enjoying the opportunity to experience travel vicariously through your blog. Thank you - Elise

There are no stupid questions! - From: Our TEFL Course (school)
I'm glad you asked actually because it made me look into it. Before I could have only told you that they are the lowest caste in India and were historically highly discriminated against. But now I can also tell you that the real name of the caste is Dalit and that in the Hindu religion they are believed to be the only caste that does not have any "varnas", parts of the body coming from the divinity Purusha. Today this caste is really only discriminated against in the more rural areas (well, that's what the internet says at least...).
