Tucking in to some delicious Spanish food
Trudi and I finally arrived in London on Wednesday 7th May. Why the hell not? That's why I'm in Europe after all! Barcelona Is amazing. Unfortunately since I was only here for one night - and most of that night and the next morning was spent in bars - I didn't get to explore much of the city! But what I did see, [View Full Entry]

Vietnam

Ha Noi The first thing you notice about Hanoi is the noise. Beeping beeping beeping beeping beeping. Unfortunately quite literally. It is loud, incessant, and very quickly becomes more annoying than that one mosquito that sneaks into your room just as you're falling asleep and buzzes around your head. Huay Xai Stepping off the Long Boat from across the Mekong, we anticipated a more relaxed (and cheaper!) world in Laos... And didn't find one. If anything the prices here were more expensive, not less, than in Thailand, as the savvy locals on the tourist trail jacked prices up to equal what you would pay back home. Also confusing was everyone's insistance on quoting prices in either US dollars or Thai Baht, when we had just converted all our money to Laos Kip on the belief that it would be commonly used in Laos! At night we stumbled across a cool [View Full Entry]

Our tricksy Tuk-Tuk driver
Well, where to begin?! I'll begin at the start, with... Bangkok ... and stressing how much you should not bother staying in it. Stepping out of the terminal we were instantly assaulted by taxi drivers and husslers, aggressively touting taxies at twice the fair price and pushing us toward their friends' cars. We felt threatened immediately and began to harbour a (fully justified) wariness of anyone that approached us. Our bus ride brought us into the scrambling chaos of Bangkok. This is a city where every second person rides a 125cc scooter, seemingly to their own set of road r [View Full Entry]
