=D My mom and I cracked up while reading this! XD You're so funny Byrk. Anyways, that sounds really fun. D= I wish it would snow here. Oh, and how many other exchange students are in the school? Do a lot of Estonians speak English?
Thank you, Byrklei! Your writing about Saaremaa (my home) was a really interesting, funny and honest reading. It kinda made me thinking about the real life we're living here. It's just something we don't see from other side, cause we're in it. And even if I get the feeling that you haven't seen the best part (time) of Saaremaa jet, you sure see things with open eyes. So... till next time and better time! Btw, you are a writer! :)
Dang I miss you! This new years was dead. Misha was at a party, Nick in New York, and me sitting on the couch doing nothing. I MISS YOU SO MUCH! I'm going to be sending your gifts soon... well hopefully... you know me... lol
Tsau So you have learned the language. Fabulous. I'm sure it was difficult. But what have you learned about the differences in our societies?
I imagine that the Estonian elders were quite suppressed when the country was part of the USSR...do you think that is right? When I went to Hungary, a former soviet block country, I was absolutely SHOCKED to learn that many people were sorry that the iron curtain fell. That was theretofore unconceivable to me so I really wonder what the Estonians think. What customs do they have that you think are strange?
Thanks for corresponding with me.
Love, Sloan
Yay!! all of that sounds amazingly fun!! I bet those 4 days were the best pick-me-up huh? I hope your printing all those pics I know we will all be looking through them, and gasping away like we air climbing a mountain, at Flying Star in 6 months!!:)
NJ and NY and the clock tower The clock on the building made me think of the clock in back to the future, just a random thought but the town is very pretty. Staying in NJ is SCARY and it takes a bit longer then 1/2 hour to get to Ny from NJ. You can find really good deals in NY and in Manhatten you just can't afford to stay near times square, central park or broadway. Regardless, save up and stay there anyway it is so very worth it! giggle like i know what I am talking about
cats at play if you think she likes foil you should try a bread twisty (don't know if you have those there), Lexies cat chases them all over the house and actually plays fetch with you and them. Now that we are in the house together Xavier and Cedar chase each other all over the place including jumping on and over furniture, chewing on each others tails and throats, it is a riot. we miss you kid hope to see you soon on Skype!
Sausage! So we all want to know - if there is a buffet of food and you can choose things to eat... will you eat blood sausage again? I am not asking about a meal at a Rotary home where it is all that is being served, will you choose to eat it again?
I am glad you are ready for the snow!

Tere tere! I am an exchange student living in Estonia. Right now I am in Tartu, and after Christmas, I will go to Saaremaa and live there for the remainder of my year. I am learning the second most beautiful language in the world (say some experts), and it is difficult yet very rewarding. I have a friend in Sweden who is so amazing and together we keep each other going through this whole experience. Then I have two friends in Denmark and they are both having a ball and intend to for the rest of the year. Estonia is so wonderful by the way- NOT filled with cold people, just people who are cold!... full info
