Day 6 Today I felt more out of place that I ever had before. I had my first class with Ticos from 6-8pm. The class is called “Organizational Behavior” and it’s a business class taught only in Spanish and I am the only non-Tico (or only white, non-fluent Spanish speaker from Costa Rica). Days 4 and 5 Lazy Sunday, wake up in the late afternoon, Go downtown just to see how it’s doin; Hola San Jose; what up JB? Not much, nice Guanacaste Tree. But my hunger pains are stickin like duct tape, Go to the panaderia to mack on some cupcakes! No doubt that place has got all the bomb crema, I love that ice cream like Mikey digs Elena. Ok, so on the way to town today for more orientation stuffs, we passed a McDonalds. Here, they have a burger called the “McNifico”; in Spanish, ‘magnifico’ means magnificent. Yes. That’s the the McNificent burger for only $900 colones. Get it while it lasts. First experience of a Costa Rican storm today, but more on this later sometime. Ok, so the food here is crazy freaking good. Like, your tongue makes the rest of your body feel bad. I don't even know what I'm eating, but its always amazing. It looks like it could be mystery meat from your old grade school cafeteria lunchlady, but it tastes like it just came straight from the cow... or something like that. I had the realization riding the bus today that this place really is a 3rd world coun.... er... developing nation. Day 1 I flew into Houston around 3pm and immediately realized Houston is terrible. Seriously, the airport is absolutely atrocious. Think of the most basic airport you can think of; then imagine there was a nuclear fallout. That’s Houston. Not to mention the only thing in the Fox Sports Bar (which was the ONLY redeeming grace that kept me sane for 3+ hours) was Houston Rockets memorabilia from the early days (like the 90’s).
