Granada, Ometepe & SJdS Nicaragua

Fabulous trip to my new favorite Central American country. Late night arrival in your typical shody airport. Hoards of folks screaming and utter mayhem until you see that little white board with your name on it... ahh, relief. How do people ever find who they are looking for in such kaos? A quick scoop up in the 87 Toyota - prearranged by the BnB in Granada. Glad we did this due to such a late arrival, shaky reviews on Managua and beautiful next morning!
I cannot and will not be able to describe the place we stayed in Granada... stunning old multi courtyard BnB. La Bocona is the name, you'd be a fool if you didn't stay here. Humm, Olga (indeed Nicaraguan) was kind enough to serve me tea in the pool the first morning. Wonderful breaky and off to explore all the charm of the city albeit 3 hours worth. The horse and buggy quickly secured was the ticket. We really didn't read up on Granada because of the short time we'd be there. Maximizing our time it was wonderful to be pulled around the town in 90degree weather while some fine young man with perfect (ok, almost perfect) english educated us on "the most beautiful city in Nicaragua." Funny how everyone says that of their town. We'd hurried through enough to enjoy some Tonas (local beer) at the hostel next to our stellar BnB. Literally sharing a wall with the hostel it was amazing what a difference 40 some bucks makes. Markus was in heaven, I will admit the hammock was wonderful albeit challenging when wanting to take a sip.
Our trusted driver charged and arm and a leg to get us to the ferry to Ometepe that afternoon. It was nice to have the aircon despite my tiny (very tiny) desire to take the chicken bus. I'd read enough about it to know that our age and temperment might be pushing it especially if we were spending the next few nights in an Ecolodge.
