Looking for information on Younghusband Hostel
Hello Bryan, I was searching for information on Younghusband Hostel, where my father was Warden in 1948, when I came upon your site. I understand that the hostel is now the Cathedral School and I was hoping to find a picture of it. My father was the rector of St Oswald's, Moghulpura, and at St Andrews. My memories of St Andrew's rectory was of a huge building that looked somewhat like a mosque. We used to watch the burning of various parts of the city during the civil war. I wonder if you might have some photographs of these places? As I am trying to put together some memories for my grandchildren I would be grateful if you could send me some via email? If the church has records of the years of my father's ministry I would be glad to have them. I know that it was somewhere between 1943 and 1948, I think. He was teaching at Bishop Cotton's School in Simla, before his ordination at St Oswalds. At one stage he was in charge of something like 9 parishes when the civil war was on. We left for Australia at the end of 1948. Thank you, David Cornelius

Brings back pleasant memories.
Surprised to see the hotel where "the Slab" had been. Things change so quickly. Is The Wendy House same as before? Thank you for sharing. Good to see all the familiar faces and relive that wonderful Christmas Eve gathering. Roberta

Americans are beautiful
If an immigrant came to America, and was treated the same way that Americans are treated in foreign countries, it would be called racism or bigotry. Why is it okay for Europeans to be so rude to Americans? They are just as guilty of bigotry! They should make just as much effort to understand cultural differences. If I were to go around saying "Ugly African", I would be called a racist and hate-mongerer. So why is it okay to say Ugly American? The first time I heard this term, I was horrified. I was on a subway in Czech Republic, and ordering a coffee, when a subway passenger came over and spit on me and my 2 year old daughter when she heard us speaking English. I have certainly never spit on anyone. Also, I am American and can speak two other languages, and I have traveled widely. Many Europeans assume I am uneducated and can't speak other languages. I am tired of their assumptions and snobbery. They just need to get over themselves already.

I have to say as a U.S. citizen I am very envious that you can go to cuba! what a great country to explore! ( Not all of us are like what our gov't projects to the world! ) Happy travels!!

bay of pigs in playa larga
You can visit Playa Larga and Playa Giron where invasion took place.. there is a nice spot called villa guama which is beautiful near the bay of pigs, playa larga hotel right there where invasion took place and Playa Giron hotel as well.. the road by the caribbean sea is just beautiful.. eat at cueva de los peces where a tectonic fault conforms a nice natural pool.. for hotels check http://www.CubaTravelHotels.com and click hotels above
