Hi Linds! It's been a long long time and when I finally run into Katie Belcher on facebook I'm told that you're having the adventure of a lifetime in Africa! I checked out your blog, and although I must confess I didn't read EVERYTHING, I'm hooked. I hope that the next time you're home in Ottawa (who knows when that will be with all your Australia plans and whatnot) that we can get together and catch up. I miss you girl, and I'm sorry I've been so awful at keeping in touch! Take care, Amanda

Just be there for the poor girl who has no one to rely on, as much as you can Lindsey. She will need someone to be understanding, this will be a very difficult time for her, and you can only support her in her decisions. It sound as if her mother and father are very strict, and this is possibly the reason she was looking elsewhere for affection, and ended up with much more than a young woman should have to deal with.

Lindsey - your Dad just gave me your journal coordinates so I have jsy spent a happy hour or so gulping in the whole thing. What an adventuress you are! From this latest experience, it sounds to me that what you need most in your vicinity is a Tim Hortons. If they can operate in Kabul, why not Burkina. All we need is a quick private member's bill - which is a contradiction in terms so don't start ordering a double double just yet. Great blog Lindsey. Keep the mosquito net on. - Tony

Malaria - From: Well, it was bound to happen eventually...
Linds: You probably are having a light dose of it because you have become so fit. The fact that you have been training is kind of two fold. You get really fit and are able to fight off a lot of stuff, but because your young, and I say this, with the most respect, the young have a tendency to feel invincible, and therefore push their limits sometimes, you may have let yourself get just a touch "not enough rest" and therefore you are wide open to such maladies. Think so? All our love and take care of yourself, you are strong and resourceful, take charge and rest, but keep up the good fight. Love You Bud and Gail

Love the Aussies - From: Tin Can Village
You lucky girl, with all those men. You know me and men I love them all. well, not quite all of them. I haven't met all of them. HA! HA! HA! Linds: We are having lovely weather, really quite warm, 25 to 30 but with lots of wind, so it feels absolutely lovely, sort of tropical, do you know what I mean? In the tropics its always sort of wet warm, and with a wind, that is what its been like lately, we are getting lots of rain, and warm weather, with wind, oh well enough about the weather. We are all doing well, Kath has bought herself a condo apartment, and will be moving into it at the end of August. She and Steve are done, and they have settled. We will be going to your mom and dads, on the 22nd of July for 4 days, and spending that time on the "boat" which I understand is quite luxurious. They are going to be here this weekend, with Mr. Sulu, it should be most interesting. Brutus is most accepting with Barkley, Kathryns cat, so he should be O.K. with Mr. Sulu, but I am sure it will be interesting, because she is quite young and will want to play, and probably will harass Brutus quite a bit. We will see and I will report. What you have reported is most interesting, but I am glad I am here and its you there, but then again you are still young and can handle the things you are doing better than someone my age could. Possibly if I had had the opportunity at your age I am still not sure if I could have handled it. I think you are "My Hero", and I can imagine that I would have been able to handle it, but I really don't know. I love reading your blogs, and I know Bud does too, so keep them comming!!! We love you and look forward to seeing you when you come home

Kindred spirits - From: Interns to the Rescue!!!
Hey Hans/frans, so i was reading ashley's post and she mentioned kindred spirits, which I happen to be reading Anne of Green Gablesfor my children's literature class. This obvioulsy made me think of the part in the novel that Anne goes away to Queen's academy to continue her studies and her busom friend, Dianna, stays in Avonlea. So i begin to compare us to the two friends, you being Anne and me of course being Diana. Diana is worried that her friend will make all sorts of new friends and forget about her, but Anne assures her that this is not the case and they stay lifelong friends. the point that I am trying to get at is not that I am afraid that I will lose you as a busom buddy but that I am actually applying something school related into my everyday life...aren't you so proud of me!!!I feel so edumecated! come on, you honestly didn't think i was seriously worried...I'm super glad to hear that you are meeting so many wonderful new ppl! Peacock message - From: The Meowing Peacock
The peacock reminds us to see the beauty in all aspects of life. Its eerie call sounds similar to a laughing screech and reminds us to laugh with life and not take things so seriously. As it presents itself with confidence and awes us with its beauty it teaches us how to keep the ego under control and to set all vanity aside. Past lives associated with superiority has been linked to peacock medicine people. By observing the peacock we can learn to strut our stuff with dignity and grace.
