Dianne and I are now both retired and can give free rein to our passion of travelling the world. Not that we were shy before retirement as we enjoyed having had a 30 year career in the Royal Air Force followed by nearly 18 years working for British Airways. There are not many countries of note that we haven't explored over the past 45 years and we have many experiencies and memories that ought be shared with the wider world before they become thought of as being the ramblings of a sad old couple!

South America as a destination always had a pull especially following the fleeting visit we had made a few years back to see the Iguazu Falls. On that occasion we had passed through Buenos Aires and on the back of the little we had seen it was agreed that Argentina might be more worthy of examination than just the 4 days we had spent dashing up to the magnificent Falls and then returning breathless to the UK. Montana was reached by placing one's trust in United Airways out of Heathrow, flying to Chicago; transferring to Denver then finally making the relatively short hop to Missoula. We stayed and toured around Montana for about ... read more

Having boasted in my introductory, blog-joining note of how worldly-wise and extensively travel the pair of us are, on Thursday we are "going Local" and flying to Portugal to stay with our friends, the Hamatons, who live in the Algarve, Portugal. They emigrated some 10 years ago to escape the UK Winters and are now part of an ex-Pat community in Lagos. Not sure if we could be brave enough to make such a decision but, hey, why do we need to consider such a thing when we have an open-ended invite to go and stay anytime we wish. This year will be the 7th time we have taken up their offer to go and enjoy the quiet beauty of an relatively unspoilt part of Europe. Hopefully I'll be able to make a few entries whilst ... read more
