This was the first day of driving without my aunt or uncle in the car. Considering my issues with left turns and my occupation, I navigated instead of driving. I'm good with maps, not so good with driving on the left side of the road. I did drive around the block once. After my uncle reminded me a couple times that I was getting too close to parked cars on the left, I decided driving in the UK was not my thing. I'm good a parallel parking, so I parked the car a couple times, but that was the extent of [View Full Entry]

On my trip to London & Germany, I went on and on about how good the food was. The food in New York was not spectacular, just ok. Anyway- on with the trip. We had most of the afternoon off to spend doing whatever. We took the subway downtown so we could catch the ferry to Ellis Island. Another water trip- it's a theme of all my trips. The photo of the group (Victor, Brad, Scott, me, Dave and Jay) is from when we were on the ferry over to the island. While on the ferry, we stopped briefly at [View Full Entry]

Germany Day 3 Europe » Germany
On Thursday we traveled to Lubeck. On our way to Lubeck, we stopped to take photos of the windmills. They are huge- Michael was able to find a country road that took us right up to them. They make almost no sound. It saw very few power lines here, it makes for some very pretty scenery. Michael dropped us off downtown on his way into work. We started our day by taking a boat trip on the canals. Lubeck is famous for its churches; I was able to see the seven spires of the churches from the plane when we [View Full Entry]

We flew to Germany on Monday. To get to the airport in London, we had to take a train. I had never been on a train before, so that was a new experience. The airport in Lubeck was very small- 1 terminal, it made baggage claim and passport control easy. We had dinner at a greek restaurant, another new experience for me. I don't eat lamb, so finding a dish I could eat was challenging, especially since I know very little German. The beauty of this country is very striking. After spending five days in London, to see the green [View Full Entry]

On Sunday we visited Kew Gardens followed by the Natural History & Victoria and Albert Museums. We finished the day with a wonderful dinner at a Belgian restaurant. Kew Gardens is very large and we were not able to see everything. There are some very beautiful orchids in one of the green houses. Some of the first photos show the gardens outside the Palm Green House. The second green house we visited had so many rooms that I am still not sure that I went through them all. The Natural History Museum has a wonderful collection of Dinosaur bones- mostly [View Full Entry]

It basically took me a whole day to get to London from Indy- many airport delays. Amy flew up from Germany and met me at Heathrow. We then took the tube to our hotel in South Kensington to drop off our bags. We were starving, so we had fish and chips at an area pub. They serve fish and chips with peas in the UK- we were given the choice of garden or mushy peas. The mushy peas sounded scary, so I ordered garden and they turned out to be very crunchy. After lunch, we decided to go look for [View Full Entry]
