Jen We arrived late into Hanoi and decided to stay down a quiet alleyway. Little did we know that at 5am it turned into a bustling food market filled with live crabs live fish and lots of fruit and vegetables Luckily we had to wake early that morning so that we could travel to Halong Bay. We took a three day boat cruise around Halong Bay and the scenery was beautiful. Although the boat was f

We travelled with another kiwi Brent a Brit Sonya and South African Chris all of whom we had met in Siem Reap. The boat took us along the river and down canals through to Chau Doc the Vietnam border. Along the way there were many locals bathing in the river and they were all waving and saying hell

Cambodia land mines reality hits hard

On our first day in the town of Siem Reap Cambodia we decided to visit the landmine museum that had been recommended to us by fellow travellers. We had also seen a glimpse of it on the Intrepid Journey's TV program. The landmine museum is run by one man who has dedicated his life to defusing and removing landmines from around Cambodia. The museum is on his own land and only contains a couple o

Angkor Wat

Ancient temples here we come. We hired a tuk tuk driver as our guide and off we went. Angkor Wat was built by Suryavarman II in 111252 and it was amazing to see the temple still in such good condition. Makes New Zealand seem a newborn infant in comparison to how old all these temples were. We visited Angkor Wat for both sunset and sunrise along with every other tourist but it still was imp

Singapore

Jen As we arrived off the plane in Singapore I immediately felt clean. Everywhere is clean and tidy in Singapore and it was a nice change from Indonesia. We arrived late at night and checked into our hostel which offered us The Rooftop room which turned out to be literally 16 beds all on the roof of the building...very funny. The hostel was full of western tourists and I'd say at least 34 of

Jen We arrived at the new Bangkok airport and immediately noticed the lack of chaos that we had encountered the last time we had come. We meet a group of tourists at the airport and shared a taxi with them to Khao San Rd.
Time to relax in Bali

Brick Life is tough in Bali. The places we stay don't have great showers so every morning we have to get up and swim in the warm ocean. There's no TV or internet so each day we have to make do and just lie around in the sun reading books eating drinking yarning to other travelers...and then the next day just repeat it all again...its tough. So we arrive at Bali airport after an announcement
