Fried Cottage Cheese Donuts - From: Uz laukiem (In the countryside)
My mouth was watering over the picture of the Cottage Cheese Donuts. Tell us all the recipe of ingredients and then how they are made. Yummy, I want to try some. I think I would like these more than pickle soup. Lelde, is that light blonde hair I see in the pictures?

Catching Up - From: Almost tempted not to write about Loas so that it stays just the way it is!
I just read your last three entries. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to stop and catch up on all your new adventures. Your time in Thailand looked from the pictures and sounded from your narrative just delightful. I was only there once, but I do remember the beaches were beautiful and Bangkok was one huge market. Lelde, I'm so glad you got to see your Mom and she got to share some of your travel experience with you. Well, I'm looking forward to the next installment. Love, Jan BTW Steven, sadly, the US government didn't do any better job taking care of our servicemen that were exposed to the chemicals used in Vietnam. In fact many suffered for decades while the gov't refused to accept any evidence that the health problems they were having had anything to do with the chemicals that were sprayed on them.

about your questions - From: Gobi Desert
Hi There, Here are some answers to your questions. If you have more, feel free to send them. We started in Latvia, Lelde's home country , by taking an over-night train to Moscow. We had a travel company do our Russian, Mongolian and Chinese visas for us in one go. The best way though, is to vivit the embassys personally to get each visa- it'll be the cheapest way and you can get more info from them on travel in the countries( we spent around 300 pounds each on these three visas- since we've been travelling we've seen that , by going to the countrie's' embassy abroad to get the visas it will only cost 20-35 US Dollars per country.) The other good thing about getting the visas from the ebassys is that you can change your travel details as you go- getting each country's visa in their neighbouring country's capital. We booked the first-class trian cabin through a russian company called "spezhy veter"- again, if we were to do it again, then I'd book the tickets at the train station. Our tickets cost about 350 pounds(700 US Dollars) It's MUCH MUCH cheaper to get the tickets at the station for all travel and probably a better idea just to go "soft sleeper" class. You can get tonnes of information on train and other overlan/sea travel at thi amazing site- www.seat61.com Costs on the train were just for our food.

Yes... from playground politics to world domination, the people of the planet are cruel, wicked and vile and also amazing, loving and compassionate... there's no escaping the dualities and the awareness of them helps you to make the choices you need to take. May you always sip from the sweet side! Much Love, Caroline xXx

A lifetime of memories - From: bye bye China...
Wow, China is just a memory, but one that will last a lifetime. Did you pick up much of the language? If you had the chance would you go back again? Are you going to keep up a traveling pace or do you plan to make any long layovers? Love all the pictures. Make sure to send some from Thialand. Gary lived there for a year and he loves to see how it looks now, 35 years later.

A ko es teicu par celosanu - nogurums un no noguruma info nelien ieksa (ne dvesele, ne smadzenes). Pec 15 gadu (t.i. 1992. gada es pedejo reizi biju arpus Latvijas teritirajas) partraukuma es ar meitas klases biedriem aizbraucu uz Klaipedu un Palangu. Un, kaut gan tur nebija daudz jastaiga (pec maniem uzskatiem) toties - vakara loti sagribejas atpakal... Laikam esmu majas dzivnieks, piemeram, suns, kuram jasarga savu budu, visskaistako budu pasaule! Toties mans virs bija sogad Urala, brauca ar laivam pa upi. Loti apmierinats. Tulit pamaginasu pievienot bildi... Un neredzu, ka es to varu izdarit. Labi, kad reiz gan atsutisu. Leldei sveiciens no mums visiem. Ruta paludza atzimet, ka, kaut gan vina neatbild, bet vienmer izlasa par Jusu piedzivojumiem. Lai Jums jauka diena! Lidija

Happiness - From: There and back again
I've been thinking about the need to travel. I am doing a lesson on happiness tonight and I found this quote whilst making the lesson "The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet." James Oppenheim. I guess happiness is to be found where one is right now:) Thank you for following our blog and your comments- it makes us feel maybe not so far from home. Love to all, Steven.
