Now in Fes! After 2 nights in Chefchaouen am now in Fes. I wanted to do a little exploring on own, so i have set out by myself and started exploring the vast medina - market - it is busy and fun, i have a few pics from here and a bunch from Chefchaouen. Alive and well in Tangier. We got in about 4:30 this afternoon. Interesting place, makes the winding streets of Spain look positively organized. I'd heard bad things about Tangier from a few people, but I like it well enough. A little aggressive in terms of people trying to sell you things, or give you tour guide services you don't want, but still pretty okay really. Tree and I met up with a couple other travellers on the bus out of Sevilla this morning, Caitlin and Iku. American and Japanese women respectively. We have been in Sevilla for 2 nights now, tonight will be our 3rd and final night. The weather has been decidedly agreeable, low 20's during the day and mostly sunny. Much like Madrid, most of the action and interesting things to see is within walking distance of the centre of the city. After a couple days, we are starting to get okay at finding our way around these crazy winding roads, but the handheld GPS has saved our bacon twice already (thanks again to all!!). I've been meaning to get something up since I arrived, but the jetlag, super busy saturday night, the vino tinto, and a really slow internet connection have conspired against me. Teresa (Tree) and I arrived in Madrid around noon on Saturday the 1st, found the metro (which rocks) easily enough at the airport, switched trains twice and made it to the central area of Madrid called Sol. Had one final going away gathering last night, saw my brother and his girlfriend, and a few Ontario based friends. My flight is not until 6:30 pm, but I will head down to the airport for about 3:00. My friend Teresa, who is travelling with me for the first 2 or 3 weeks of my trip is stuck with a 4 hour layover, so i will take her into the MLL (maple leaf lounge) for some free drinks; doesn't sound very appealing right now, but a little hair of the dog will have to do. A quick update. I am now homeless and unemployed and staying at my mother's house in Thorold, Ontario. LOL It sounds grim, but really could not be grander. Tomorrow I'm off to Toronto to see some friends and my brother (sis was supposed to come, but has a studio gig to play, good for her! I'm proud). There might be some drinking...;) and Friday night I hop a plane to Madrid. Travelling business class (thank you aeroplan), and I intend to enjoy every minute of it; after that it's definitely low-brow travel for me.
