So I'm back at Suk 11, my fav place in Bangkok. I leave tomorrow morning for China. after a longer trip than anticipated from Kanchanabury.. ended up taking teh local bus... I didn't get to do as much as I wanted to in Bangkok before leaving... oh well. After having my sunglasses for this whole trip so far, I finally lost them.. ARGH!!! So I tried spending the last of my ThaiBaht before leaving... new glasses, new shirt (woohoo!), and some other crap. So anyway, I'm really sad to be leaving S.E.A. but what can you do. I got a great [View Full Entry]

So I've been in Kanchanabury which seems to be for too long. It's been raining most of the time, except for one day which seemed like it would. SO I didn't book any "tours" because of it and missed out that day. Oh well. Today seems fairly well, but still seems like the rain is coming. Hmm, should I book or not? The thing is that it's not just light rain, it's heavy downpours and thunder so you don't really want to be out there in the jungle or whatnot. So I'm still lazing around, doing nothing. Spending money on Internet, [View Full Entry]

Someone help me!!! I made it to Kanchanabury this afternoon. It was a 2 hr bus ride from bangkok. It's an interesting place to say the least. It has some history and all, like the Kwai River Bridge where thousands dies building it. Some nice day trips to do which is a relief from the tourist areas. Teh budget areas are on the riverside where they have floating cabins, which I'm staying in. It's nice and calm until the floating karaoke bars start thundering by my room... Oh dear goodness, what happened to my quiet time by the waters?! this place [View Full Entry]

Kanchanabury

I've just arrived in Bangkok about 2 hours ago. It feels as though I was here just a few weeks ago but last time I was here was in March! I Can't believe how quick this trip is going ... already 3 months have passed! Feels like only 1. Well I'm stuck between Kanchanabury and Cha Am for my next destination. I know there's more to see in kanchanabury, but there's no beach! There is a river and nice guesthouses I hear, but really Cha Am is on the coast. Hmm, what to do with only about 5 days 'til my [View Full Entry]

Penang Asia » Malaysia » Penang » George Town
I finally made it to Penang. Left the Highlands this afternoon and jumped on a bus saying goodbye to Maria and Sara. It was nice to have cool weather there. but now I'm in Penang with once again the heat, which really I enjoy much better than the cold.. LOL uh-oh, I've become warm blooded! What will I ever do in the cold of Canada again? So I finally bought my ticket out of Malaysia.. Oh so sad... good times. but time to move on. I havent' seen much of Penang yet as I got here too late, but I'll go [View Full Entry]

I did it. I left Nazri Camp... It was sorta sad to go but in a way it felt good. It was hardest for some reason, for all of us, to say goodbye to Sakke. Maybe because you could see how much he didn't want to leave. Poor Sakke, going back to reality after 1 1/2 years of travelling... Ouch! Anyway, I'll really miss everyone there; Adek, Rozie, Sakke, Johan, Netty, Jah, Ila, Lee and all the others. Thanks for your hospitality and making us all feel at home in Teluk Nipah. Your always welcome in Canada if ever you make [View Full Entry]

Time To Go... Asia » Malaysia » Perak » Pulau Pangkor
When you stay somewhere too long and get to know the people who live in the area is great...but sometimes, it's too much and it needs to end, and you need to move on. That's where I'm at. It's still a great place and I'll have many wonderful memories of this place and the people I met but when everyone starts gossiping about everything which really is nothing, that's when you're like "I'm I here travelling for this?" No. So I think that tomorrow or even tonight I will be heading out. I was supposed to go to KL with Adek [View Full Entry]

Huge Centipedes...

I can't explain how beautiful of a city Melaka is. It just has so much charm and history. From Chinese, to Dutch, to Portugese... I ended up staying 4 nights and met some wonderful people. Malaysians are some of the nicest people on my travels so far. Always wanting to help you and just chat. Very friendly place. Thanks! Since my last entry on Melaka, we did end up going out for a game of pool and became instant regulars at Heeren Café from the exceptionally friendly staff and customers there. We played some pool, which of course I kicked Johan's [View Full Entry]

Melaka won the bet... Asia » Malaysia » Melaka » Melaka City
Yup, so I didn't eand up going to Cameron Highlands, but decided on Melaka, in the more southern parts of Malaysia. Johan decided to join me to get away from Pangkor life for a few days, so we embarked on the the last ferry out and caught the 10:30 pm 8 hour bus ride here. After switching buses 3 times, we finally made it here this morning at around 6:45am. Without a ounce of shut eye, we jumped in a cab and headed to this great guesthouse called Sama-Sama. It's yet another reggae theme with really nice owners. The place is [View Full Entry]

Today's THE Day... Asia » Malaysia » Perak » Pulau Pangkor
Ok, so last night I was just chilling in the hammock watching a movie in the open air common room at teh cottage and guess what?... I had a moment of boredom and I decided that it's enough and I must leave now. So at 1am I decided to go to my hut and start reading about other places around Malaysia... but still haven't made a decision as to where... maybe Cameron Highlands. It is also a long weekend here in Malaysia, Labour Day, on Monday. And that means lots and lots of tourists coming to the islands to get away... [View Full Entry]
