Last Supper...
Last Supper...
BBQ in Nanping (Charlene, Martin & I)
So this will be a quick one... I'm off again! Woohoo! Finally on the move! Something new again! The adrenaline is starting to pump again... what a great feeling! I bought my tickets to Australia. I leave tomorrow (Sunday) by ferry from Zhuhai to head to Hong Kong where I'll be staying with some old friends (Taiwan) Nuning & Shane. It'll be great to catch up again, it's been a while. It'll be a very short stay as my flight to Singapore leaves Monday night and then I catch my flight to Perth on Tuesday. Hopefully I will meet old friends [View Full Entry]

So finally after 1 month in China I got the news today that my Australian Working Holiday Visa has been approved and I am able to land in the Land Down under any day I wish (within the next 12 months to be exact). After many calls and e-mails to the consulate in Guangzhou, due to the fact that my application could not be found in cyberspace for some reason, the kind lady at the consulate found it and very quickly sent in my medical results and "ta da!", within hours she called me back to tell me it was ready [View Full Entry]

oooh!
Well it's been a while since I wrote in my blog... Only because I felt they were no longer very interesting to read and not many people were reading them either... LOL That's ok, I don't mind and don't blame you. This'll most likely be a short one anyway. So, honestly not much has really changed here. But met a few people and have been keeping busy. Got a few job opportunities, but I really don' t want to take a job just because, especially in teaching. I did it for 2 years and I didn't come here for that, so... [View Full Entry]

Yup, you guessed it...MORE rain. And it ain't getting any better. Why didn't anyone tell me it was rainy season in China??? ;o) SO, as it has been raining uncontrolably here (wakes me up every morning..errr.. early afternoon...) :-O WHAT??! I have nothing else to do! LOL To continue what I was saying...I still haven't got to doing much. I sure have been keeping up to date on my e-mails and chatting that's for sure... well slowly have anyway. Most of the time I just watch a movie. There are tones of them on the cafe's intranet.. it's great. They even [View Full Entry]

You gotta read this..
This is typical English translations of things you will find in China... What's a girt...? This is from my hotel room.
I finally got out of Zhuhai for 3 nights! It was great. I left with Charlene on Saturday afternoon to go meet up with Martin in his second home, GuangZhou. Of course it was raining, but the fact of being on a bus and heading somewhere new was oh so good! How quickly you forget that feeling when sitting around not doing much in a small town. Anyway, we then tried to find me a place to stay (hotel) in one of the downtown areas (this city is huge). Finally found something that was affordable in a great area (near Starbucks, [View Full Entry]

I can't believe it! The sun is actually somewhat there today! I woke up to the sun shinning in face.. what great feeling! So I guess I'll be out wandering the street of Zhuhai finally. Yesterday I spent the afternoon and evening with Charlene. She showed me around town (some parts) and we did some shopping.. nope, still haven't found anything that fits..and here I thought I lost some weight... LOL (ah the Chinese curse of a foreign women trying to find pants that fit.. Ha ha ha!) She then brought me to this fabulous noodle place. Sorta reminds me of [View Full Entry]

Yup, so the weather is still really crappy here. It's the never ending rain. And they say it'll be raining for another week... yippie! Yesterday I spent almost 24 hours not talking to anyone... very bad for ones mental state sometimes... LOL Too much time to think, but I ended coming to the net cafe and got on MSN and had the opportunity to talk via microphone to Brandon and Estelle.. thanks for saving my sanity... LOL It was nice to talk to people from back home. I ended up leaving the net cafe around 2 am or so and headed [View Full Entry]

Oh how I forgot how it is getting around with so little Chinese knowledge. It's rough sometimes. I'm having problems with the lonely factor here, as you feel very alone at times here when you can't communicate properly. Mainland China is NOT as easy to get around as it was in "the other country" (sorry, seems as though everytime I write the name of the other country I live in for 2 years on the internet here explorer crashes, the gov't sensors these things I think... not the first time it happens since being here, can't search certain things here, it's [View Full Entry]

I finally made it to China yesterday evening. I met up with Tits yesterday at noon adn then he showed me around Macau, which is great. We then went for a wonderful dinner at a nice Portugese restaurant... fanciest place I've been in so long, felt kinda out of place. Too many forks, knives and spoons, cloth napkin, Perrier! LOL We then went to sock up on some good wine & port there because there are no taxes and it's much cheaper... 7 bottles later. After that we headed to the border crossing where I got my 90 day visa (just [View Full Entry]

So here I am. I made it to China, well Macau so far. And guess what? The street names are all in Portugese, so I can read AND understand it! It's great! The only thing is when it comes to asking for directions, well most people here speak Cantonese, so it doesn't work for me. But with my " tien-tien" knowledge of Mandarin, it helps a little bit, well sorta. Macau is a beautiful place with really nice architecture. Kinda reminds me of Malacca in Malaysia really. Same-same, but not really. Not as old looking as Melaka. It's very clean here. [View Full Entry]
