Bondgirlontour

After 4 years, its time to take the 'great' out of 'great britain', throw on the dusty (yet trusty) backpack and set off.

Im off in search of new adventures - big and small - whether its meeting new people, seeing new sights but most of all, I just want to wake up every morning and wonder what exciting things the day will bring.

Bring it on!

Ola everyone!! Just got back from spending a few days in the Amazon Jungle which was so much fun (even if it was really hot and I got seriously mugged by mozzies and sandflies!). After leaving Banos in Ecuador, we headed up to Misahualli and checked into the "pink elephant" which is a ugly hotel that's painted hot pink! There's nothing to do in Misahualli except swim in the river and watch the monkeys steal your water or icecream and then race up the tree while trying to fend off the other monkeys who also want some as well! The next day, we took a motorised canoe to where were started our 4 hour hike through the Amazon. While I had great fun splashing and sloshing in the mud (it had rained heavily the night before ... read more

Hey all Hold on tightly for the ride... The sun is behind you, slowly dipping below the dunes. You're wiggling your way onto a board, getting ready to fly down a sand dune that's 50m high. Woooooooosh off you go - your hands are holding on to the straps, but they grip tighter the faster you go. You scream at the top of your lungs with sheer excitement and fear and your eyes are open as wide as you can open them because it would be scary shutting them on such a ride. THUD. Thud. thud. The ride is over as quickly as it started. You've hit the bottom and roll off the board in a bit of a dazed state. Now you've got the fun part of trying to get rid of all the sand ... read more

Hey all Does anyone fancy spending the day hooning down a narrow one-lane rocky road, with trucks and buses heading in both directions? And at the same time, you're plunging down 3,600 meters, passing by snow-capped mountains of the Bolivian Andes, rocky cliffs(with 3,000m drops) as well as lush, sub-tropical rainforest before ending up in a sleepy old town? There was also some fog thrown in for good measure, which was just as well as it momentarily obscured our view of the thousand-foot drop-off just a few feet from our tire tracks... Welcome to the world's most dangerous road - a 64km road which links La Paz to Coroico. I did it and it was amazing! It has got to be one of my highlights and I would definately recommend it to all, especially all you ... read more

Hey all Hope you are all well. I am now in Machu Picchu town after having spent the last 4 days doing the Inca Trail. We started at Km 82 (in Ollantaytambo) on Monday and set off for a 12 km walk (in both sunshine and rain) to our campsite for the night. As it was Peru´s national day, some of us decided to check out the local festivies that were going on at the local church. What a sight - we were the only ´gringos´there (hence we stood out like a sore thumb) but the highlight for us was watching a very drunk man trying to steal a donkey. On Tuesday, we set off for the toughest day of the trek, up to 'Dead Woman's Pass´. While the route was "only" 6km (it sure felt ... read more

Hola! Yup its another hot day outside and here I am writing to you all inside the cool internet cafe.... I seriously can´t believe the amazing weather that we´ve been having - its only rained once and that was the first day in Rio. Every other day has been in the mid-20s with blue sky to go with it. The evenings are cool but so far so good, apart from getting mugged by the mozzies... Anyway, after leaving the land of salsa (Brasil), we headed over to Paraguay for 4 nights. On our way to the capital, Asuncion, we got caught up in a road block because the truckies were protesting againist the rising fuel prices. There were police there too but because Paraguay is one of the most corrupt countries in the world, they really ... read more

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but to show you photos of Iguazu Falls just wouldn't do it justice - it's loud, grand and just takes ones breath away every time you turn around. We spent 2 days at Iguazu Falls. The first day, we spent on the Argentian side, which allowed us to get up close (and VERY wet) to the falls. Most of the group opted to do a boat ride around the falls but some of us chose not to (because we were saving our pennys to fly over the falls the next day). We were entranced by all the waterfalls that we saw, especially with all the rainbows that appeared to rise into the sky with the spray of the falls. The second day we spent on the Brasilian ... read more

Hey all Thought it was time for a weekly update.... We are in Foz do Iguazu right now and over the next couple of days we are visiting the Iguazu Falls and visiting Argentina, Paraguay and Brasil in the process. (Thankfully I´ve got a couple of blank pages left in that battered passport of mine...) I can´t believe it was almost a week ago that we left Rio. Feels like we´ve seen so much and done even more driving (but playing poker and blackjack seems to help the time pass)... We all met up at our hotel in Rio last Saturday night and found out who was who in the tour. We´ve got 6 Americans, 4 Brits, 3 Irish, 2 kiwis and 1 ozzie. Our guide (Pedro) is from Portugal and our driver (Dave) is a ... read more

Ola from Rio Just thought I'd quickly write about the last 3 days in Rio before I have to go and meet the tour group. James & I arrived into rainy Rio on Wednesday morning after a long flight from London via Sao Paulo. We spend the day hanging out at the Mango Tree hostel where we've been staying as it was too wet to do anything and we were both tired. The hostel has been great fun and we've met some awesome people here too. (Thanks Chris for recommending it!) On Thursday, we did a city tour of Rio, where we visited Tijuca National Park and saw some amazing views of the city, admired the Christ Redemeer statue up close and personal (very cool) and visited Saint Teresa, which is a cute suburb filled with ... read more

Hey all Tell me, what happens when your famous saffa tongmaster is missing so you haul in 3 recruits - 2 kiwis and an ozzie - to cook a legendary team woody coal bbq? Firstly, the men throw a bag of ready-light coal onto the brick bbq. After a few seconds when that doesn´t work, they throw on some twigs that are lying around and think that maybe they should add some more coal. So on goes 3 bags full of ready-light coal. The coal starts to smoulder with a small fire in one corner. Convienced that the grand fire wont get any bigger, they rush off to by some lighter fuild and throw that on the bbq. In the mist of all this, two fine young lasses (a kiwi and a canadian) tell the lads ... read more

Bonjour! This was always going to be the trip that I was most excited about, even though it was just going to be short n sweet. I've just spent the weekend in Paris with one of my best mates Selina. I've never been to Disneyland and yesterday we went to Eurodisney in Paris which was soooo much fun. We also managed to drop 20 years off our real age and acted like 8 year olds again. We saw the parade with all the disney characters which was really cool to start off with but then it ended up being one of the quickest parades I've seen in a long time - that's because it started to bucket down with rain! That's when we seeked refugee with the Space Mountain ride, which even in our soaked states, ... read more
