Just got back from Juli's sister's house. They live in Stockum and Juli was babysitting her little niece, Louisa tonight, so I went over to hang out. Louisa is soooo cute. It was the first time I had seen her. She was supposed to go to bed around the time that I got there, but she was so excited that Juli and I were there, so that didn't happen. She has sooo full of energy. =) We played together a bit. Then she ran around the room and was just a very happy baby until we put her to bed about and hour later. We tucked her into her crib and then left her screaming and crying. Juli and I both felt soo bad. I hate leaving babies crying, but she eventually fell asleep. Juli and ... read more

Went to Oma Imgard's (Papa's mom) last night for a game night with the cousins. She invited us all over. Lotta, Maike, and Jan were also there. It was a pretty fun night. Had pizza (always a good thing = ) We played "Ligretto" first. It's a very fast card game. Each player recieves a deck of cards with a different color on the back. They lay four cards in front of them face up and thirty of their cards in a deck face down with the top card turned over. They then flip over three cards over from the pile in their hand. Only the top of one can be used to play. The cards have the numbers 1-10 and are different colors (red, yellow, green, and blue). Cards are then layed in the middle ... read more

What a great Christmas this has been =) I missed everyone back home, but it was also nice to get to spend Christmas with family over here again. Of course in true German style, there was a lot of celebrating. 24th:Christmas Eve The day was pretty relaxing. Just kicked back and didn't do much. Around 5 Anna, Maike and Oma came over and we opened presents. There were so many under the tree! Got some really nice stuff. Oh yeah, the Christmas tree had candles on it. =) I love that. hehe... the tree looks so pretty with candles. It just means you have to be extra careful. After presents we all went to Christina and Juergen's (Mama's sister and brother-in-law) for dinner. It's tradition that the Christmas Eve dinner is Fondue. mmmmmm.... so good. It's ... read more

Last night was great! Nello, Evy, Sonja, Marina, Juli and I got together for our christmas party and gift exchange. We went to Juli's had pizza, drank sparkling wine (pretty much a bottle a person, that explains the pictures if you look at em) and had a blast. We exchanged the gag gifts first. Those where quite entertaining. We put a gift in the middle of the table and the first person to roll a double with the dice got it. Nello got the monkey lighter that I brought. It was a hit. =) Sonja and Marina ended up bringing the same gag gift, so Juli and I opened em at the same time. They're ugly calendars from a Chinese restaraunt in Sundern. Was pretty entertaining. After that we exchanged our real gifts. Marina and I ... read more

Hi Everyone, yeah I know... I've been slacking. sorry that it's been a while since I last wrote. I know, I haven't finished writing about the conference. I've already started the last journal entry for it, but just haven't found the time to finish it yet. Things have been very busy here. After berlin I was in Trier for 3 days and then caught a train up to Stockum for the weekend (Thur. to Sun.). It was nice to be back up here. Sat. was my class party. That was a blast =) =)... I have pictures up on my site. I was back in Trier this week. Classes are keeping me very very busy. It's beginning to be crunch time. Also had to clean the apartment and pack. Yuck! Mon. was my last dance class. ... read more

It was a great conference and I had a blast in Berlin! =) Now for the rest of you, here are the details... enjoy =)...... After having finally finished writing about the first two days I've realized it's going to be really long. I don't want to have to cut anything out 'cause I'm so excited about what I wrote, so I decided to break it up into a few journal entries so it doesn't look too overwhelming. Skim it if you want, only read parts or if you have a lot of free time read it all. =) Hope you all enjoy.. there will be more coming. (If you want to ... read more

yeah, so my day wasn't that bad, 'cause I decided I wasn't going to let it, but man did it sure start out pretty crummy. First class of the day (at 8:30 I might add) was my academic writing class which is a joke, but oh well.. Anyway, talked to the prof. and found out I probably won't be able to get credit for the class. The semester here doesn't end until the end of Feb. so I'll be missing a month of class which equates to like 4 or 5 class periods. The head of the DAF (German as a foriegn language) program said that's too much and I can't get graded for the class which means now credit. Every other department on this campus is willing to work with students knowing that the semester ... read more

A great and hilarious day. Got up early and worked some more on my reading, went grocery shopping and so forth. Nothing really interesting. Then around 12 Matt, Graham, Melissa and I went to the Christmas Market. It was really nice but sooooooo packed. At some points you could hardly move cause there were so many people. I hate crowds like that. It was still fun though. We walked around and looked at all the booths and the different food that you could buy. We stopped at a booth that had something that looked like little mini pancakes. They were Poffertjes from the Netherlands. There were two griddles with little round circles in em that the guy poured dough into. He then used a little pronged fork to flip them. They cooked really quickly. Of course ... read more

Haven't written in a few days 'cause it's been a pretty uneventful week. Went to see the new Harry Potter movie on Tue. with Jaime and Matt. It was good. Wed. Matt and I made tortillas and then had quesadillas for dinner. yummy... was good times. Other than that I've spent my time reading and starting to do research for my presentation in January. Melissa and Graham (both graduates of Hamline that are living in Germany) are here for the weekend. Matt and I met Graham at the train station and then walked around the christmas market for a while. Sat in a cafe and drank some Gluehwein (a hot red wine drink that you can only get around christmas time). It was nice, we had some time to kill before Melissa arrived from Berlin. Unfortunately ... read more
