Garbage Bloody hell guys, don't envy you in the slightest. Trip looks rubbish with all that messy stone stuff everywhere. Just come home and take some photos of sheep instead eh?
Mexican Greek Germans You boys are scary. Are you trying to get a head start on Movember, or are they coming off for a few weeks in between?
Great that your joint (it's quite a joint) is even better than the pictures you first saw. Sometimes the brochure/internet view is the one that you can only get by climbing the tallest tree, leaning out at a crazy angle and taking the photo with your toes from a super wide lens. But not this time.
What's the fud like there?
Eruption Well, what do you know? Things DO happen in NZ. Ruapehu erupted, just a small one. So glad you are not in NZ Richard, you'd want to be up there, peering down the crater...
Greece must be amazing!!!!! How can a volcanic small eruption in a small country far away compete? Enjoy! Take loads of pictures...only 14 days to go!
Thanks for sharing Hi, we are off to Dubrovnik next week so I thought I would check out a few blogs. It looks great. Now I know what to say to people who say "Croatia, what a strange place to go!"
Hello from Sydney Things we did when we were in Cambridge:
Shopping, eating pies, playing soccer in Parker's Piece.
So it sounds like you are doing ok.
Did you know we're in the semi-final tonight, v Pakistan? 2nd semi is India/Aus.
Half-marathon tomorrow...
We miss you guys!
stranger than fiction Got fed up with waiting for more comments...but hello, a real Blackpoolian..you didn't by any chance ride a roller coaster for three months, did you?
Is everybody else lying low?
Are you lost in Cambridge, Richie and Paula?
Any comment from you, Jed?
you nailed it hi there!
i live in blackpool. have done for years and still don't quite know what to say either :)
I described it like a three-legged mongrel dog a while ago to someone...
kinda manky, missing bits but it's still OK :p
that said, i rarely try to find anything to eat outside, maybe that's why i've survived this long!
bye, and i hope the rest of the trip goes well.
cheers,
darryll
Blackpool Ah, there's that lovely northern grey sky! Did you not marvel at the Blackpool Eiffel Tower? And what about the rides? When I was there, there was a man who was into his third month of roller coaster rides - an effort to get into the Guiness Book of Records. Perhaps he's still there. If you haven't got to Liverpool yet, check out the Ferry 'cross the Mersey.
The major sporting event of the year is underway! Would you believe, we stupidly and embarassingly (I blame mysky, cos I'm sure I set it up) missed our first game, NZ/Kenya, it was a slaughtering anyway but it would have been good to see us get there in 6 overs! Next up, Sri Lanka tomorrow night, should be good fun. It starts at midnight so we'll watch Sunday morning. Meanwhile Aus/Eng play today and if Eng win, Aus are knocked out, having lost to Zim. No doubt about that. You might be able to catch it over there?
Oh yeah, and there's some rugby on too.
Bristol Bobe, could you get hair like Mike's if you let it grow? Just think what you could achieve if you then combined that with a German-style moustache. Can we see a photo of the bus please.
Road trip Looks (on your handy map) like it was quite a long way to get to a city that ended up being closed. Reminded me of a road trip we once did, Bobe. I'm pleased to hear about the traditional Croatian cuisine too, icecream and a good eddie-friendly Margherita and I'm even more inspired to go. I guess you've got a couple of weeks of cod and chips ahead of you now.
Good Times Sounds like you are having a great time on your journies. I didn't realise that you were going to the middle of nowhere. I like the craic about the Austrians in power! Go the ABs!
Lace? I can't believe you didn't take advantage of being in the lace capital of Croatia! And I know how much both of you enjoy buying, wearing, giving and eating lace. Talk about your missed opportunities.
Good bye Croatia, Hello Rellies Hiyas,
I suppose you'll be on your way to Bristol by now - At least you are now very qualified to say Croatia? I know it well, should anyone ask. Hope you picked up a souvenir or two , a map or a bus ticket at least. Enjoy this new chapter, and keep us posted!!
Split the atom It would be hilarious if there was a suburb of Split called Banana, don't you think? They should do that anyway. Do that. This also solves the mystery of where people actually go when they say "I'm going to split." And what do you need with deisel? Do you have to provide your own fuel for your travels? That's all I've got for this morning in the lame pun department. Looks like a nice place but. I can only guess that Crotia is not that big into rugby eh? It's all over the TV here, as you can imagine. Nice photos. Bobe and Elwood contine to blaze a trail across Europe!
More pics please! Hiyas
Just wondering how you are doing, where you are on your journey....what it looks like in the north of Croatia...if you are making good time...if there are internet cafes along the coast...if you are learning any of the language...if you have come across any other New Zealanders or Brits...so many wonderings
Mama
Chilling out Hi - what can I say? It looks like the perfect holiday to me! Great that you got a glimpse of the surrounding countries.
Yeah, lots of mature women barring the entrances of toilets...what a horrible job.
In Croatia they teach things like philosophy in high schools, brilliant. Do most of the people you speak to, speak English? Not suggesting you engage someone in a philosophical discussion! Well, maybe...
