Friday the 21st Had what was meant to be the last night out with the clare boys and Nial. In the end there ended up being a group of 6 of us with a few liverpool lads joining the possy. Wednesday the 12th On wednesday morning I woke up in my hotel room in Koh Samui an island off the coast of thailand. The first thing I noticed about thailand, or Koh Samui, is the amount of scooters and moterbikes. Everyone drives them here. Without having much time to look around Koh Samui, i got my stuff together and headed to the ferry terminal. I caught a ferry to Koh Phagnan, another thailand island famous for the full moon party. Monday the 10th I arrived in Singapore at 10pm and tooka taxi to John Sheehans place. The taxi driver gave me a brief history of Singapore on the way (all taxi drivers are talkative here). John (who worked with me in MCS galway and who also lived in paris for a while) lives in an appartment in a high rise building like most people in singapore. Friday the 31st to Sunday the 2nd The weekend in cairns began with halloween on friday night. Myself and Eric dressed up as Pirates which is pretty easy to do as we found pirate hats and swords in a kids shop. Tony an american guy that was with us dressed up as a penguin and it was priceless. Thursday the 23rd That evening the crowed from the whit sunday trip met up in a bar and got absolutely loaded. Party party party. A live band in one bar followed by a live band in another bar followed by a night club. I bloody hated the night club, too many sweaty people too close together with terrible boom boom music, but I loved the bars and music before that. Obviously my age is starting to show. Monday the 13th Myself and Erich arrived in Surfers Paradise and really just chilled out. Surfers paradise is a real beach resort type place. There are lots of high rise apartment buildings that people use as holiday homes. Close by there are a number of theme parks. But despite the name the surfing isnt all that great, well thats what the real surfers say. We sat on the beach for a while, went for some average italian dinner that evening and went to bed early.. Monday the 6th of October After only 4 hours sleep and a crazy weekend in Sydney I got up to catch the bus for the surfari, a surfing safari up the coast to Byron bay. I met the group and driver/surfing instructor at 7.45am. There were a group of seven people, Erich from switzerland, Rachael from Adelaide, Marusa from Slovenia, Thomas from Germany, Faith from Belfast and George her boyfriend from Scotland. Tuesday the 30th of September After a good night sleep, which was well needed after a crazy tim in melbourne, i got up early to go Sailing. I had booked a two day sailing course in sydney harbour with a lady called Annie Bennet. I took a taxi up to where the course was as I had not a clue where I was going. I was staying south of the harbour but the course was at a place called Clontarf which is north of the harbour. The taxi took the Harbour tunnel and 25 minutes later we arrived at the marina. Friday the 26th Packed my bags and said good bye to new zealand and took the flight from christchurch to Melbourne. As it turned out I probably picked the best weekend of the year to go to Melbourne. On saturday the grand final of the Aussie rules was on and on sunday there was a festival. When I got into melbourne I met Mickey Lynch, a mate from back home in Sligo, who is now living in Melbourne. He put me up for the weekend. The poster in the skydive shop said "There is no such thing as TRY, there is only DO or DID NOT DO". The skydive was one of the most enjoyable experiences ive ever had. I cant wait to do another one. Wednesday the 17th Myself and peter decided to do a skydive Wednesday. But unfortunately the weather did not work out and the skydive got cancelled.
