We sailed to the Saintes Islands just south of Guadeloupe. The roosters woke us up in time to walk up to Fort Napoleon. Fort Napoleon was built in 1867. The Fort has a well tended garden of labeled cactuses and succulents. [View Full Entry]

Fort Napoleon

We sailed to St. Lucia, picked up Donna's sister Debbie at the airport, and visited Pigeon Island in Rodney Bay. Pigeon Island is conserved by the St. Lucia National Trust. We walked to the top of both peaks on Pigeon Island. We went to Rainforest Sky rides and rode their gondola up to their zip lines. We went to the fish fest in Anse La Raye. On Friday nights they set up tables and stalls in this picturesque fishing village and serve fish, lambi, lobster, and plantains. Some photos taken in Culebra, St. Martin, and Saba are attached. We watched the Culebra International Heineken Regatta and the Rolex Regatta in St. Thomas. We stopped in the BVI's on our way to St. Martin. Steve and Ann Honea joined us for shopping in Marigot and Phillipsburg, a street party in Grand Case, a mud bath on Tintamarre island, scuba diving and snorkeling near St. Barts, a hike to the top of the island of Saba, and butterfly viewing just south of Orient Beach. Raft up at the Heineken Regatta

We sailed to Cinnamon Bay, St. John, USVI with our friend Pat sailing her boat “If Knot Y Knot” along with us. A picture of a 30 lb. turtle we saw there is attached. We continued on to the Spanish Virgin Islands of Culebra and Vieques. In 1941 about two thirds of Vieques was taken over by the U.S. Navy . The Navy purchased the land from the locals, but did not give the locals the option of keeping their land.
