We anchored on the east end of the Golfo at Muellle de Cariaco. From there we took a day trip to the Gaucharo Caves in Caripe. The caves are inhabited by Gaucharo Birds that use sonar in a similar to the way bats use sonar. The Guacharo birds are born in fours and only the strongest two survive. [View Full Entry]

We saw pelicans on the way to the anchorage in Laguna Grande in the Golfo de Cariaco. There are beautiful desert like landscapes in Laguna Grande. Birds on Radar Supports

I added an Air Breeze wind generator to "Bluewater Cat" while I was on the hard in Trinidad. The new wind generator can generate up to 200 Watts. The existing 2 solar panels can generate up to 120 Watts each. I also generate power with the main engines. We sailed from Isla Margarita to the Venezuelan offshore islands of Blanquilla and Tortuga. Dolphins

We sailed from Los Tostigos to Porlamar, Margarita Island, Venezuela. We took an island tour with our friends Val and Lloyd from S/V Puddle Jumper and our friends Dick and Jane from S/V Cheetah II. When we we're clearing customs the customs officer did not speak much English and we don't speak much Spanish. The customs officer asked what "Jumper" meant. All I could think of to do was jump up and down. The customs officer replied "Kangaroo", I replied "Yes" and then he stamped us as cleared in. [View Full Entry]

We caught 5 tuna, a Dorado and a swordfish on our trip to Tobago. We saw a 400 pound Leatherback Turtle lay her eggs on the beach. The turtle crawled up on the beach, dug a hole in the sand, layed her eggs, disguised the egg location and then swam out to sea. [View Full Entry]
