I just finished racing the Family Island Regatta in Georgetown, Exumas, Bahamas. All the boats were built in the Bahamas. The local cruising community helped a local Bahamian named Pat get his boat "Two Friends" ready for the regatta. "Two Friends" received a new mast, a new Awlgrip paint job and some repairs. One C-Class boat I raced on sank, to the bottom, just after we crossed the finish line - It was great fun. The Bahamas Police marching band closed the regatta. [View Full Entry]

We anchored near M/Y Rising Sun in St. Thomas Harbor. Rising Sun was originally planned to be 120 meters, but the length was changed to 138 meters because Larry Ellison of Oracle wanted his boat to be longer than Paul Allen's of Microsoft. Rising Sun has a basketball court on her. I wanted to ask Larry Ellison over to our boat for fresh tuna we had just caught, but the admiral would not allow it. We've anchored in Mayaguez, Boqueron, Ponce and Salinas Puerto Rico. We plan to sail to the Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Central America, the Rio Dulce in Guatemala or Cartagena Columbia. We took a land tour to Angel Falls in The Canaima National Park. One of the most fascinating features in Canaima's landscape diversity are the tabular formations called tepuys, rising abruptly in the horizon among savannahs and dense forests. The top of the formations are flat and collect rainwater that falls off the tabletops to make waterfalls. Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall in the world with a free fall of 979 meters.
