We just had a delicious lunch so after writing this blog l shouldn’t be too hungry. Our motto is: “you have to eat so it might as well be good!” Cooking is like solving a puzzle, see what ingredients and spices go together and prepare it. The best part is eating it! Hubert and l love to cook together, we both have our designated cooking places and it works fine. He used to cook the meat (while we were still on Atkins diet) and l am the Spice Queen. Getting a Package in Panama

Receiving a package from another country (Holland) is not an easy thing, at least not here in Panama. Here is how it works: You open your PO Box and find a form that says there is a package waiting for you, nice ! it’s always exciting to get one. Then you take the form inside the post office where you have to sign twice and they give you another form. The new form has to be taken to the Head Post office in another town in order to retrieve your package. Upon arrival at the Head Post office you have to go to a window on the right, hand over your form and sign two times, again. We received an invitation to meet the Dutch Ambassador who was visiting Volcan and Boquete. Before it was “just” a Consulate but things change and therefore we now have a Dutch Embassy in Panama City. Great news ! We got in contact with another Dutch person who lives on the same road as we do so we could follow his car to where the meeting was being held. In the first email it said it was a get together with Dutch people who are living in Volcan and Boquete and to meet the Ambassador. Just casual, a drink and a snack. Shasta and Amigo This one is about our four-legged friends, Shasta and Amigo. Shasta is a mix of a Labrador and Anatolian Shepherd dog and is four years old. Hubert rescued him from a Shelter in California, Shasta was only one year old and very goofy. He turned out to be a lovey dovey Dog, yes with a capital D. The first two years we all had to figure out how to be together but after camping for three months we worked it out. Shasta even played Houdini once in Eureka CA. We left him in the car, in the front seat so we could go out and have a necessary haircut. When we came back and looked into the car, there was no Shasta. Panama City We put our dogs in boarding and went to the City to apply for Residency. Hubert found a highly recommended lawyer on the internet and has been in contact with her for some time. So we gathered all our papers, packed our suitcases and off we went. We have to say that we experienced the fastest flight ever ! From David to Panama City it is just an hour flight but this time it felt like 15 minutes. We got into our seats, got served a snack and a drink and before finishing that we were landing already ! wow. A taxi took us to our Suite at the Finisterre Suites and Spa, right downtown. Home and Garden Monkeys no longer wake us up in the morning, now it’s up to the birds and crazy roosters. Yes, crazy roosters, they start around 03.00 am already, crazy enough right ? The birds are funny, they make all kinds of sounds. There is one type of bird that kinda talks. He says things like “one two threeeee” or “el camino” or”l don’t believe you” or “we’ll go with you” or “l miss you” And no we were NOT drunk when we heard this because it was early in the morning. We started working in the garden, taking grass out so we can plant tomatoes and other veggies. But last month was the rainy month so that stopped us. Living in Boquete Well, being here for more than two weeks, we have to say: " we love it !" It is really great to be in another country again.... Everything is even better/more than we expected it to be. Our cabina is perfect, good size, easy to clean and very easy to live in. Very simple, just the basics but for us it works. We came here in the rainy season which is nice. Sunny and warm in the morning and rain in the afternoon and/or evening. And our feet are getting cold in the afternoon, we wear jeans and shirts with sleeves instead of shorts and tank tops. And it always (no matter where you are) smells so fresh after the rain..... The Move / De verhuizing It has been a wonderful two years in Playa Samara - Costa Rica but it was time for us to go on a new adventure. After talking and talking about it, we decided to sell the furniture and "things" we gathered in those two years in Costa Rica and brought from Holland and the USA. lt felt really good to get rid of all the possesions, starting a new life. Our landlord was so kind to let us use an empty store downstairs for a few hours, where we could sell our things. That worked well. After the first hour sitting there with nobody entering the store, people came in and ran around like hurricanes. We sold almost all the furniture and lots and lots of other items. San Fransisco Juni 2011 Deze keer weet ik niet zo goed waar te beginnen. Er is nogal wat gebeurd in één week. Hubert en ik zijn een aantal maanden bezig geweest om de trip naar San Fransisco te plannen. Hiervoor is Willeke naar Nederland geweest om haar vader en vriendinnen te zien, het was een goeie trip. Terwijl we in het vliegtuig zaten van Costa Rica naar Houston / San Fransisco is Willeke's vader overleden. Hij is in April 88 jaar oud geworden en is de laatste maanden snel oud geworden. Alles is goed, hij is heel vredig heengegaan en hij wilde heel graag dat we zouden gaan trouwen. Dat hebben we dan ook gedaan ! Veel liefs pap, we zullen u nooit vergeten. Panama ! We zijn nog een keer naar Panama geweest, wat een reis ! Het was een heel avontuur. Eerst namen we de Interbus, kleine busjes voor 12 personen of minder, naar San Jose Costa Rica. Omdat we aan het strand wonen en het bijna altijd zonnig en warm is vergeten we nog wel eens dat er ook nog ander weer bestaat op de aardbol. We zaten in de Interbus, bergopwaarts, en ineens kwam de regen met bakken uit de lucht. Donder en bliksem en onwijs veel water, daar waren we NIET op voorbereid. Er was geen zicht meer en we hoopten dat de buschauffeur wist waar de weg was. Uiteindelijk kwamen we in ons hotel - Balmoral aan waar het warm en droog was.
