Wow! I'm from the U.S.A. and live in the city. I've been to Yellow Stone National Park. There was a bear less than 25 feet away from my family and I and yet your story sounds crazier! It's so cool your able to do that stuff.

I married the Toxic Texan! - From: The Breaking Up of our Glorious Friendship - Goodbye Dear Friends...
Andy, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog. Truly amazing experience. It was wonderful seeing you guys again in July. You all have a very special bond. You and Mechthild must come visit us in Texas! We will cure you of this ‘vegetarianism’! Best, Sarah

An Update - "Where are we now (2009)" - From:
Hi, this is Andy Ganner, writer of the travelblog you're commenting about. May I say, what a fantastic response from everyone, I'm so happy that my inane scribblings gave so much joy to many of you. As for me, I'm still cycling, done some nice big trips but have yet to enter them in Travelblog. As for the other guys: TOBY got married to his Taiwanese sweetheart in Taipei last week. RORY will get married in 2 weeks time. I'll be over in England for the wedding. NICK will get married next year to his Swedish girlfriend and live in Sweden with her. He's also coming to Rory's wedding having sailed from his home in Montreal to England, the yacht is moored, noe he's walking to Leicester from the coast! SCOTT has now been happily married for the last 3 year, has grown a Dennis Hopper (Easy Rider) style moustache, and also a big gut! He will also be at the wedding. STEPHANE has dissapeared somwhere in the Arctic! LESLIE, who joined us on the trip for the first few weeks, just can't stop having babies... last I heard, she'd got three. And finally... ME,... I'm still living in Germany with no plans to marry... distant lands are still calling me, my wheels are itching to take to the road again. At 45, I'm still fit and capable of doing distance. Golf and coach tours are still many years away.... I hope to make a proper blog entry soon. Thanks for your support... ANDY "BIKEPACKER"

I'm the edge of my seat - From: Braving Sandstorms in Inner Mongolia
I've come back to the blog after losing the address for over a year. I came across the address again and am really enjoying reading this blog. This is almost to good to be a movie. You guys need a screenwriter to write this into a movie. I'm constantly on the edge of my seat!!!

Icing on the Cake - From: 2001 England to Singapore Bike Odyssey - Where are We Now (5 years After)?
First I was going to say that the 2001 Bike Odyssey Bikepacker blog was hands down the best travelblog on the site- then another comment got me thinking, it probably is the most amazing travelblog yet! It wasnt a travelblog about a 2 week vacation from work, it wasnt a "round the world" trip that composes 85% of travelblogs, it wasnt a travelblog about living in a particular foreign place. It was an amazing thing what you guys did! This blog entry is like icing on a very rich cake though- I think the most fascinating part of all great stories is the whole "where are they now" thing! Amazing to see how people change, and are changed, by travelling. Thanks for the post!

Hello - From: 2001 England to Singapore Bike Odyssey - Where are We Now (5 years After)?
Hello guys, looking forward to seeing half of you soon, the other half as soon as possible. Toby btw, Rosey was not one of my students, much as Andy would like to believe. It was much more interesting than that! But, I'm sure there are many more details I could take issue with, if I were that kind of guy... Judge for yourselves!

Small world - From: A week in Ulaan Baatar - and the temperature plummets...
Regarding that Ben guy you met...I've read the books about their adventures. Written by Colin Angus, "Amazon Extreme" and "Lost In Mongolia" are the stories of their rafting trips along the Amazon and Yenisey rivers. Not really well written, but exciting and adventureous nonetheless. The fact that you met him on your trip is pretty cool...

Great ending but... - From: 2001 England to Singapore Bike Odyssey - Where are We Now (5 years After)?
unfortunately, it is an ending, which sucks. I guess I just didn't want it to come to an end, and funnily enough I feel kinda bummed-out that it is over (I can only imagine what it must have been like for you at that moment), anywayz, looking forward to reading more memorablogs of your other excursions...

kathryn missed out - From: 2001 England to Singapore Bike Odyssey - Where are We Now (5 years After)?
what can i say? very inspiring. all i can say, kathryn, your girl back in 2002 missed out by not waiting for you. her loss, the story was missing a happy ending with her after all the longing. if you ever turn this into a movie, make sure you and her get together in the end!

Great end! - From: 2001 England to Singapore Bike Odyssey - Where are We Now (5 years After)?
I was following your blog for the past few months (i believe from China on). Excellent read with nice photos. Gave me to think, whether to do some similar stuff or not (though i don't have such friends to do it with me). This "five years after" post was just great, just to see what former travellers do five years on...

Andy, has been a real pleasure to follow in real time (but 5 years after it actually took place) the whole journey from UK till Singapore. It would be nice to read journals about other similar bike trips you have done in the past. And, by the way, happy birthday. Marco

It is so inspiring to see what happens five years later... does that travel bug stay with you? I think for most it does, but whether you do something about it is another thing altogether... it is great to see that everyone did!!

A nice ending - From: 2001 England to Singapore Bike Odyssey - Where are We Now (5 years After)?
That was fantastic trip, and finding out what happened later makes for a nice ending. After doing something like that, I could see where going back to a computer or whatever for 20 years would drive someone nuts. I guess its a good thing that I just read things like this on a computer rather than doing stuff like this. Thanks for sharing your story.

Congratulations - From: The Breaking Up of our Glorious Friendship - Goodbye Dear Friends...
13,000 miles and you get "home" and your parents aren't in! I know somehow that will happen to me. Brilliant blog. I haven't read so many of your blogs as I'm on my own cycle trip I its too much to read them in crappy internets cafes after e-mailing my folks to tell them I'm not dead. BUT when I saw you'd finished I had to read it. For some reason it almost felt like I'd finished my own trip myself just reading yours. I'll print the rest out when I get home, even if it does cost me 50quid in printer ink. Congrats mate. stayloose - ben

Simply Incredible Story - From: WE FINALLY MADE IT!: Adventure's End - SINGAPORE !
What an inspiration to everyone out there who longs to travel and explore the world. You dont need fancy hotels, rental cars, airplane flights and guided tours. Just your dreams and a bicycle! Even Genghis Khan and the romaing mongols would be proud of your pan-asian adventure- although he would be dissapointed by your lack of pillage and plunder. I really hope this story gets edited and turned into a book someday, so I can read the tale start to finish!! Possibly the best ever bloggers on this website!!!
