Amen The end of the adventure , back home on the range without too many mishaps I trust. Its been enjoyable seeing those parts of the world through your eyes, especially your research into wines, beers, spirits, well it seems anything alcoholic. Guess you can now sell this very valueable reseach data to one of the big multi national European brewing organisations and retire for life---if only. All the best for the future in the legal beagle world, know who to call on if need help, bye and thank you.
On fire Just back from hols (nothing like your trip) had a good time in the med. its good to catch up with you travels. The last blog sounds the most dangerous place you have been todatem just as well nobody felt shoot crazy at the time but goes to show more than one part of the world can be set on fire !
Life in the raw It just goes to show that in even such a happy go lucky country, like everywhere else in the world even Brazil as its dark side. You have I guess experienced a good many things which people who are more widely travelled than yourself have never seen, so yes this is all part of life's learning curve and I'm sure helps to make us better people with a greater understanding and tolerance of others and their circumstances. Round every corner there could be a ray of sunshine or indeed a pot of gold---look for it and remain positive, one day we all discover it.
Back at the start "Now we start at the very beginning" sounds like something from the Sound of Music-- Mary Poppins song. Guess the brain, legs, body in general is tired and you can not believe fully you are back, and the people you have met and the sights you have seen. Its one hell of an experience and I'm sure it will live with you for ever and you will recall these things with fondness. Maybe get some more cash together and in a few years have a bash travelling further north. Good luck for the future.
Guns galore Sounds scary you never know in a different land, different culture/language how people who are armed will react to the slightest thing, hence when evber possible steer clear of potential trouuble--you know what they say--you only die once BUT you are dead an awful long time. Keep on partner with those back packs
You're back Yes you are back with us and its good to see you - looking tanned and well. Looking forward to seeing all the souvenirs and photos in due course. The skydive video was fantastic.
Well done on staying the course and finding time to keep us well informed. No doubt you have wonderful memories and may be go travelling again in the future (when the money is available!!).
The End. xxx
The Farewell Yes you have had a wonderful six months of seeing great places and doing amazing things, and we in turn have lived your travels via your blog and have been thoroughly entertained. We have been amused at some of the hilarious things you have done and how The Wise One frowned at the thought of all that drink inside you!!!
Thank you Beth for all the wonderful postcards and for taking the time to send them to us and wish you a safe journey home. Much love J
Not the In Place This seems a rather scary place to be, drugs, guns, lookouts etc. It seems living at the bottom of the hill is not too good a place to be - must watch out for the folks at the top of this hill who may dispose of their sewage in a similar way!! May have to move! It seems the young lads there have very little choice in their life.
Glad it was only some articles that were swept into the sea and not you!!
welcome home So you made it back , good to read your blogs hope for more in the future, thanks for the enjoyment of the southern hemisphere world tour, maybe northern next time ?
Pick a pocket or two You seem to be very brave taking the risk of going into the drug area, anything could have happened, still you survived hence the blog did no one approach you to buy drugs ? In the poorer countries it always seems to be the young who suffer the most , suprised that some manage to live and grow old be it they are not drug Barons. Keep up the good work
Home on the range Glad you made it back in one piece with lots of tales to tell I trust. Maybe you can do what they call "sing for your supper " with many a tale or two or even three. Its been interesting following your travels, hope we hear from you in the future, good luck , well done
The place to be Well Rio seems to be the place. It seems to have it all, sweat, drinks, noise, violence, shady dealing, dodgy clubs - yep sounds the place to be. Ha Ha. On the other hand, the scenery from the top of Sugar Loaf sounds stunning as does the beach - glad to hear you know your place amongst the pecking order on the beach. Shame you didn't manage a bargain in the market but it sounds a really great fun place to end your travels. Just off now to put on the Barry Manilow version of the song.!! Oh no I hear you cry. Much love J.xxxx
Party time It would appear that Rio is just one big party reading this blog, so glad that younhave bought us up to date with your travels, hope your last shopping trip proves to be fruitful, beware of your excess baggage weight with all the things I'm sure you will have bartered for in your last market shop. Don't forget you cannot bring the Columbian young man back on the plane or any other of the people or animals you have seen and met. Have a good flight back and don't forget to do your last blog when you arrive home safe and sound
Rio It sounds grrrreat lots of noise, food, drink, sun bathing (ugh)party time, dancing, colourful-------just what some one my age needs to have in moderation, so I guess its a young persons city. So enjoy your last few days but take care now you are on the last stage of your adventure
very cool This is so so different from your last blog, I wonder why you were the last one to get on the mini bus ??? Was it because of the after effects of the amount of distilled liquid you had to drink because of THE HEAT (some excuse). Hope you kept some of the yellow shiorts ?
On the go Keep at it, but it doesn't get much easier the longer and further you travel. I guess you just get used to the continual problems and conditions, you know what they say---there is no place like home-( I think)
party time again! Certainly sounded like a good party with more than the usual beverages it seems. Just been to our local Sainsburys where what did I see for sale - well bottles of caprini no less - in fact its flying off the shelves at a rate of knots - seems the word has spread from the other side of the world of its potency!!!! Just bring us back a little of the winter from there to supplement our pathetic summer - floods, chilly and lack of sunshine is what we have at present. We are on the countdown to the weekend and your return and looking forward to seeing you. Enjoy the last few days knowing what wonderful times you have had. Take care and don't miss the plane!! P.S. Does The Sage not understand the advantages of two mothers?
comments Yes I guess words fail to express what I am thinking, reading comments from Mum no 1 , only 6 days left, so I guess fewer blogs, anyway point of clarification how many mothers do you have ? Or is this something you would not want to let the world know about---understand---some things best left unsaid. Now down to biz--it appears from this part of your adventure that transportation arrangements is not one of your strong points---be interesting how you catch the plane back--hope all goes well in Rio
Oh Dear Oh Dear Beth you will definitely be suffering from alcohol depravation when you get home. You do realise that since you went Dad and I have become tea total. You won't have trouble with the No 9 now will you?Good Luck in Rio and see you in 6 days time. XX
tea time Obviously you have caused your bloggers to blank out here as you have no comments!! Well you know me, I'll reply whatever. Now about this tea - I take it you get no choice of blends or were you just unluky in the one you tasted? Don't bring any back if it is so dreadful. Well it's Sunday afternoon here and the area round here is on high alert for a week today (not sure if we are evacuating (remembering the smelly socks from way back) or celebrating (the band is on standby!). Just off to get a picture to refresh the memory of a certain someone who left these shores way way back in January................the kettle will be on the boil. Take care J
a right soaking Well the water fall experience sounded fantastic and one you will certainly remember. Must have been spectacular to see the rainbows through the water. I can imagine the noise of the falls. Seems you really got a soaking but I suppose no option really and no doubt you took it in your stride now being the great pioneer and all time world traveller that you are. It seems you had much more liquid on the outside than on the inside this time round!! Really looking forward to seeing the film of this trip. Nice to see such wonderful sunshine again no doubt. (Weather here not good). Love J
No swim for me No good for my namesake, I like the salt water, deep and dark good for a swim, no joking apart it all sounds terrific except for the getting wet bit, but I suppose no pain no gain. Have fun be safe good luck
Falls This sounds very exciting and I'm sure its one of these adventures that you have to experience first hand ( even though it appears you get soaking wet ) to get the full benefit from. Look forward to reading about Brazil on your next blog asap I hope
Water Water, watereverywhere and not a drop to drink, this experience sounds fabo, I guess no need for a shower on the night, just need to wet your insides with a few!!!!
