Die Familie, aber, nur die Eltern. Mom, you asked for pictures of my host family so today while I was making Erdbeernmarmalade with my host mom I decided to take a few. And on another note: Strawberry Jam is so GOOD! My host mother is very sweet, and we were sharing a mother-daughter moment in the kitchen, she thought it was so funny that I was interested in helping make the jam because her husband and kids all love to eat it but hate cooking it.... read more

Today I went to see another beautiful castle in the mountains, unfortunately I could not find the location in the list of cities on this blog, but I have lots of good pictures! The castle was on the very top of a very steep mountain... and we walked all the way up and all the way down. I am still tired and that was hours ago. Enjoy the pictures! ... read more

On Wednesday I'm going to see another castle in Baden-Württemberg, from the pictures i've seen it is GORGEOUS so I'm excited! Plan on more pictures on wednesday! Lately I've been working on a project for school, my subject is "Hat Tübingen eine Universität oder ist Tübingen eine Universität" Basically going over the history of the city and the university and concluding that neither the university or the city could possibly exist without the other. It's been really interesting. I hope everyone is doing well. Grüße, Bethany... read more

Bebenhausen is to Tübingen as Zeeland is to Holland. Close to the same size and not far apart. I went to Bebenhausen this afternoon and saw the castle and the monistary there. The church that is connected to the monistary is the one that my host parents got married in. It was very beautiful, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures in the Schloss (castle) but I was the only person on the tour and it seemed rude to be taking pictures while the nice old guy was talking. I did, however, take pictures from the outside of the buildings and inside the Kloster. Enjoy! Gruße, Bethany... read more

So, the pictures that dissapeared yesterday suddenly reappeared today while I was wandering around Stuttgart! So, yeah, I added some of my pictures from Alpirsbach, Schwarzwald. Today I went to Stuttgart, it was a lot less exciting than I had hoped, but I did get to wander around the Altstadt of the capital of Baden-Württemberg and go through an art museum. After so long of cold and wet, today was a suprise, warm and humid! Enjoy the pictures (enjoy the pictures from the Kloster in the Black Forest, I didn't take many in Stuttgart) Bethany... read more

First off, Benj, YES! Döner Kebobs or Dönar Kebops (I've seen them spelled both ways here) are amazing! I would have gotten one today for dinner, but my bus came before I had a chance. Ok, today. Today I went to a small town in the Black Forest called Alpirsbach. It has one of the oldest Klosters (monistaries) in Germany and also one of the oldest still running beer brewries. I, along with four other people (two other students, the boyfriend of one of the other students, and a guy that works at SIT and is a student at the Tübingen Universität, this guy is named Florian and he leads all of the excursions and also was my guide around Tübingen my first day here) went through the monistary, a museum, and the brewery. It was ... read more

But, but, but, isn't it supposed to be summer?! It has been VERY cold for the past week or so, a world of difference from my first few days here. Today I caved in and went shopping and bought a jacket (my sweaters just weren't cutting it anymore). Pammy, you were definately right when you said that Europeans have cool looking clothes! Very bright colors, everywere! Anyway, it has been cold, but today it didn't rain, thankfully. Last night I went bowling (Bowlingspielen) with some friends from my school, it was really fun, I got to learn my shoe size in Euopean sizes too! While we were bowling a waiter came by and we ordered drinks (Radlers, half lemonaid and half beer) which he delivered a short time later. It was strange to see 16 year ... read more

Yes! I arrived in Stuttgart yesterday evening, passed out on my rather comortable bed last night, woke up early this morning, walked a half hour (with my host mother) to the school. I took a placement test (three tests actually) and then i spent the rest of the day in my class. At 2:30 I went for a walking tour of the city, it started out as one guy and me and ended up as three guys and me, haha, I had three tour guides. They were all students at the Tübingen Universität and they worked for SIT. there are 80,000 einwohner in Tübingen, 75,000 of which are students of one kind or another. I took a few pictures of the landscape and the buildings here, it is BEAUTIFUL! we are surrounded by small mountains, and ... read more
