Happy Travels! Well this sounds like the life! ; )
The weasel coffee doesn't sound so appealing to me as a non-coffee drinker but it sure looks like Craig enjoyed it!
Enjoy the sights and sounds and most importantly, tastes of Vietnam - can't wait to hear about the next adventure!
India looks amazing! And I think you're right, I know several people who would suggest spending a great deal of time there. The cities of the world are always so enthralling and sometimes over stimulating; for this reason, I love the countryside.
Nice! Wow! This brings back memories!! The food is good, eh? Well, I thought it was (Rafa might disagree with you...hehehehe) At our hostels we always had a fresh bagette each morning with eggs and tea. Never did try any of that interesting coffee though.........damn, I missed out!
Great to read and see about your travels online. I've been back in Peterborough for about three weeks now. I'll be heading back to Spain on December 26th.
Oh....the adventures! You guys are amazing....but then we always knew that! I am so thankful that your driver returned your passport! It is a sick feeling when you think you've lost it (speaking from experience).....Given what you have to go through on Canadian soil to get it back or to reapply, it's so fortunate as an ex-pat that someone "paid it forward". As always, I find myself holding my breath as I read your adventures, and then "chuckling along". I'm with you -- the basket boats are scary-looking! Looking forward to the next installment as always. Hugs to Craig, too--take care!
India through a keyhole - What an amazing country, India! Thank you for your superb pictures of all sorts of things. I wonder if you found the country overpowering--it does not really sound like it. I fear I would. So many people, so much poverty, so much life. Thanks for a peek; it whets my appetite for a closer look some day. Looking forward to the next installment of your adventures - Barb
Great post. I spent two weeks in China last month, including a few days in Zhangjiajie and Wulingyuan, and your post was a great reminder of how incredible it is.
Definitely agree with this: "You feel exhausted and hot climbing up and down the mountain, when a little old lady in polyester pants, a formal jacket and high heel shoes passes you." We had that experience over and over again..
Sorry you had bad luck with a cab from the airport. We hopped in one of the shuttle buses to Zhangjiajie City hotels and once there, found a CITS and were able to negotiate a van to the village for about 100RNB. Tough finding a hostel there that took foreigners though.
I did a small write up of our trip to Zhangjiajie on my photo blog - www.aperculture.com, would love to hear what you think.
Absolutely amazing pics.
Love to go there as well as thailand. If our daughter ever goes for any length of time as her hubby works there several times a year I hope to go.
Take care
Kay
My favourite picture My favourite pic is the one with Craig and the lions......the lions looking like they are going to eat each other's faces off and Craig kneeling down with a calm, cool, and collect composition. Awesome!
Glad to find you again - Welcome to your new home, which sounds like it will offer a new and quite different set of adventures from that of China. I lost you for a bit, but am pleased to have found you and to learn about a part of the world that looks quite lovely and is unfamiliar to me.
Happy days - Barb
durian, durian... Oh the durian.............my least favourite memory from China. hehehe.... Your pictures are AMAZING! So beautiful and diverse - it really gives us a feel of your new experience in and around KL. It looks like you two are having fun (as you always do!) and blending in with your new surroundings.
Thanks for the update guys!
Durian FYI - Durian is my absolute favourite fruit... I go crazy when I smell it because I just want to eat it all!!
It is an acquired taste though... I must admit... But YUM!!
see you again The place you live is very nice.and from your writing i know lots of interesting things.I'm very happy to hear news from you and Craig.
Have a good starting!
Enjoy yourselves Great to hear that you are doing well. It is a beautiful country with lots to see. Remember to make plans to enjoy the cheap airfare to other exotic places nearby like Bali! We too are enjoying beautiful blue skies.
hey nice to read good things about your own country once a while...
the blue mosque is actually the State Mosque... its in Shah Alam almost adjacent to Subang Jaya
Sounds wonderful! Wow, it sounds and looks like paradise. Your pictures are making me want to go, if for no other reason than pure, unadulterated blue skies. I'ts the only thing that kinda depresses me about going back to China.
I love your optimism. Things will work out in the end, but some people never figure that out and it stresses them to no end. Keep up the Chinese lessons; sounds like they'll come in handy there. Take care
THANK YOU Hi,
Thanks for the lovelly pics. Certainly gives me some idea of what to expect.
I plan to visit sometime end Oct 2008, can you make any recommendations of which places to visit?
Do you recommend I bring alongwarm clothing?
Andrew
new sights Your photos have shown me a idiographic Beijing, which is a little different with my memories, even though I am a Chinese visiting Bj so many times.

I will never forget our trip to Great Wall ,and I also took some nice pictures with you and Craig which I will keep them forever. Hope you have more spectacular travels and I will continue watch your blog and try to konw your footprint everywhere.
Pontoon Boat??? Hey...looks like a great place to spend a day on the boat having a few 'pops'. I wonder how much it would cost to get the 'Divot Too' their? (-: See you soon...Peter
World Travel All you world travelers, so adventurous. I envy you. Craig, I just heard that Clyde Foresberg has accepted a teaching post in Taiwan and will be leaving Turkey. I'm not sure I could do it. Even though I've been to 8 or 9 countries, it's always been limited to a few weeks. Not like you guys, going off for ever and ever. Keep having fun! RF
great wall haha my history professor told the class this wall didn't exist anymore lol. i laughed pretty hard but i guess he was just checking to see if the class was paying attention.
