Hi all! It´s been quite awhile since we have done an update here. Well, what can I say...we´ve been busy! We are now back in Buenos Aires, but I want to fill you in a bit about Ushuaia, because it certainly is worth a full mention! ¨La fin del Mundo¨, the port to antartica, etc...well, by that description we shouldn´t have been surprised by what we found there, but we were anyway. SNOW FOR 2 DAYS. It was really exciting actually. Initially we thought there was going to be just a dusting, which we understood from talking with folks around town was normal. But the snow picked up and so did the wind and at one point we were sitting in this house converted into a wine bar for lunch and looked out to see what ... read more

Hello, it´s me Ryan. Well, as we left Mendoza it was about 90 to 95 degrees. After a full day of flying from Mendoza to Buenos Aires to Rio Gallegos and finally Ushuaia, we exited the plane to 4 degrees celcius!! Holy mackarel it was cold. We found out that earlier in the day it has snowed in the local mountains at an altitude of just 1,000 feet. "Sorry honey, I swear the tour book said it was an average of 60 during this month....". No big deal, this place is beautiful. We´re so lucky as we´re staying about 2 kilometers outside of town in our own one bedroom 2 story cabin in the woods above Ushuaia. If interested, the website is www.aldeanevada.com.ar . Oh, did I mention it´s only $65 a night? Wendy and I ... read more

(Me llamo Ryan) You might wonder about the title. It refers to the Royal treatment we´ve recieved in Mendoza so far. First off, we´re starting to get use to the Argentine meal schedule. So, before we came to mendoza we went to dinner at 10. Standard. Well, we went to bed at 12ish or so and had to get up at 4 for our 615 flight out of BA to Mendoza. My bad on the scheduling. OOps. So, we arrive in Mendoza and checkin to out nice little boutique hotel ($65 a night - probably $200 in US)...and are soon thereafter we were greeted by three smiles. One, Mattias - good friend and business partner of Steve Clifton (winemaker of Palmina), his Father Pedro, and their gigantic german shepard, Gabo. We hopped in the truck and ... read more

Hola! Ryan and I have spent our first few days in Argentina and already we love it and want to plan a return visit. We arrived a bit tired after an overnight flight, but after getting through the customs line (over an hour...and we were in line with the Voodoo Glow Skulls - local southern california band) we were ready to hit the ground running. Which is exactly what we did. A family friend of Ryan´s met us at our hotel as we were just checking in and after a quick stop in our room to freshen up we started walking. Ron´s an older guy, but man is he full of energy! He has lived in BA for about 3 years and graciously toured us around Florida street and San Telmo. San Telmo is now one ... read more
