Guys and Gals, We have reached our final destination, Cairns. After our sun drenched stay on Hamilton Island we have arrived in Cairns to a tropical treat. It hasn't stopped raining since 4pm yesterday afternoon, it is now midday on Monday. The roads are flooded and the life guards station has just fallen in to the sea! So we are stuck inside, apparently we are experiencing the edge of Cyclone Charlotte, which is currently west of us...... at least it's still hot and there's no frost here! Anyway here are the pictures as promised.......... read more

Hello! It's been a little while since our last entry, so be prepared for a long read. We met up with Steph's friend Kelly and her husband Mark for dinner on 29th. The following day we all went to Toronga Zoo, on the other side of the harbour from Sydney. It was a scorcher! We had a great day and decided that the giraffes definitly have the best spot of all the animals. They have an amazing view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. It was so hot that Steph had to buy a hat - a rather fetching little number in red, well it was either that or a red head! New Years Eve the only thing to do is find a spot to watch the fireworks and stay there. 1.5 million people were ... read more

HI All - A belated MERRY CHRISTMAS and enjoy your new year When we last wrote we were in New Zealand, well we have moved on a lot since then. Having left Omarama we travelled north to Ashburton, the less we say about this place the better, it was a dump. We are convinced the site we stayed on was actually a gipsy site, needless to say we arrived and shut up for the night, we left early the following morning. We arrived in Christchurch at 10am on 22nd December and headed for Lyttleton, which is the harbour area of Christchurch and is only accessed by going through a tunnel through the mountains. We went on a boat trip with the hope of seeing dolphins. We were lucky enough to see a lot of dolphins including ... read more

When we last updated you we were in Hanmer Springs, a quiet thermal town, we woke on Thursday morning to a few earth tremors, a strange experience, felt like someone was rocking the van, so we quickly packed up and set on our way. We arrived in a small town called Geraldine in early afternoon, which gave us a chance to relax and take in the local town, we had lunch at the cafe before having a few well earned beers at the local bar and then visiting a cheese factory, it was about 25'C so we did a spot of sun bathing and had a bar b q, we'd bought some steak earlier in the day, it was so cheap. After the hot weather of Thursday we woke to an overcast morning in Geraldine and ... read more

Well Hello again, when we last updated you we were in Wellington at the bottom of the north island. On Tuesday morning after doing a bit of laundry, well there is only so many times you can wear a pair of pants!!!! We ventured into Wellington, a 30 minute bus ride from our site. We wandered around the city did some shopping and had some lunch in a wonderful arcade which sold only food, from every part of the world, I'd have been happy to stay all day but Steph was adament we should do some shopping, typical women. We caught the cable car to the top of the hill, and you'll be pleased to know it started raining, in fact it was just like being at home, we spent nearly an hour walking around the ... read more

Hello Again! Since we last spoke we have travelled on just a little bit! From Waitomo we travelled through the thermal region to Rotorua and Taupo. At Rotorua we drove up into the hills to see the lake from up high - it was absolutely beautiful! We also went on the luge, basically a sledge on three wheels that you sit in and hurtle down a kilometer long slope down the side of a mountain. Only a safety helmet for protection! We then visited Huka falls, a waterfall and the Craters of the Moon sulpher pools - very stinky! Next was Taupo, a whistle stop tour round the lake and town - could see ourselves living there! Last night we were at Napier, a town built in art deco style. We walked to the town from ... read more

Hello All! Well, we're here at last after a very long and tiring flight. We were airbourne for 21 hours although it felt like a lot longer - and we can't take anymore airplane food! Although, the last three hours flying from Sydney to Auckland felt like the worst! Picked up campervan in Auckland which is to be our home for the next two weeks. Followed a terrible map to find the first camp site in Manukau (Jaywick with no beach and on a larger scale!) - needless to say we were both very tired and irritable by the time we found it. Very nice camp though! Went to sleep at 5pm and woke at 7am next day, slightly more refreshed. Just about waking up now, halfway through our second day. Visited Auckland yesterday, nice city, ... read more
