We had an early start to catch our 6-7 Hour bus ride to Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh. Beforehand we stopped off at a local bakery stall for breakfast and supplies before heading for the bus. The journey towards the border was the same route we took to the Cao Dao temple the previous day, therefore passing the same local towns with the occasional street vender, plastic chair restaurants and rice fields along the way. Our visa cost $25 dollars to Cambodia and at the border all was taken care of by a well presented Bus clerk. The scrutination by the Cambodian [View Full Entry]

After experiencing the brief delights of Hoi An's lantern coloured streets, clothes shops and mass photographed yesterday evening, we tailored our day to clothes shopping followed by a cycle to the beach. With black clouds looming over the local buildings surrounding our hotel we swiftly headed into town for breakfast by the calm river. Once fueled on a breakfast baguette we headed straight to the shops with a dress for Nik and a coat for myself in mind. With a vast array of tailored clothes on offer the choice was simply to difficult to make and so we spent much of [View Full Entry]

Helloo all. We got of the bus from our 27 hour ride and were hurded into a taxi. However it dropped us off at a different guesthouse and so with bags on our bag we were immedietely onto the thick bustleing and motorbike ridden streets of Hanoi. With my "superb" map reading skills I got our group to the guesthouse were we had prebooked. The rooms were clean but by no means 5*material particularly as you could talk to our friends through the wall! Nevertheless it was perfect for what we wanted with a comfortable bed shower and a safe and [View Full Entry]

21st March After hearing lots of positive things about Vang Vieng we decided to take a visit there. Its a travellers Mecca to go there in Laos with the main attraction being "Tubing". We took a minibus for what we expected to be 5 hours however in true Laos fashion it ended up being 7 hours.! We quite possibly had the slowest driver from Luang Prebang with mopeds and big tanker lorries overtaking along the way, nevertheless with steep mountain roads and accute meandering curves we were more than happy to take it slowly! Furthermore our driver would just stop for [View Full Entry]

Monday 16th March We spent one final night in Chiang Mai before setting off in the morning to the Thai/Laos border town of Chiang Kong. We took a package deal with an aircon minibus because it wasnt much more expensive than getting there by ourselves. The trip was uneventful and the six hour journey seemed to go fast. as part of the package we had accomodation already sorted,- upon our arrival we turned up to a delapidated building that look more like a public toilet than a hotel! One side of the building had completely subsided and we couldnt help but [View Full Entry]

Hi all. After our last update we were yet to board the overnight train to Chiang Mai, the biggets city in the North of Thailand. That evening we became more adventurous with our side street meals and bought a fish that looked rotten, yet extremely tasty, (although not Ben portion size!). We then took a cab to the train station, boarded the train and set up camp in our seat/bunkbed where we enjoyed the cool breeze of the airconditioned car. On the down side Nik had a weird man staring and filming her, perhaps he had never seen a ginger!. We [View Full Entry]

Sawat Di Cup/Hello! We arrived safely after a long arduous journey pitstopping in Bahrain. Upon stepping off the plane we felt the unbearable heat and humidity amidst the scurry of passengers from the plane and through customs. Hot and sweaty we jumped in a cab and got charged a bit too much, nevertheless it had aircon which was a real treat. Our eager eyes drawn to the windows as we entered into Bangkok, we were dropped right next to our hotel which was decorated with wooden elephants, buddahs and comfy chairs - Very Nicola! The first thing we did was strip [View Full Entry]
