HI Everyone, I am writing this from about 20,000 feet well above the city of Managua in Nicaragua. It feels kinda weird to be writing a blog entry up here but anyways hopefully I can make you feel like you are up in the air with me. At the moment we are passing over Lago Nicaragua, which is surrounded by a myriad of Volcano’s and then on the other side of the Volcano’s is lots and lots of savannah and farmland. Why am I up in the air high over Nicaragua you ask? Well I am flying back from a wonderful four-day stay in Guatemala, at Lake Atitilan, which is about 2 hours out of Guatemala City. When one of my mates suggested I venture up for a few days to race in the Guatemalan ... read more

It is Sunday morning here in sunny (well rainy today) Turrialba, today I got up like most days at about 6.30am, had a delicious breakfast, laughed through our daily meeting which I turned up like all days in shorts and a singlet and right now after about eight weeks in Costa Rica I am enjoying my first morning off, sitting in our lovely staff room overlooking Volcan Turrialba writing to you all! So hands down my Raleigh experience so far has been one of the most intense, captivating, motivating and enjoyable experiences of my life. I have so many words to write here today as over the last six weeks since I have written I have explored many new and rough lands in our trusty Landrover with our drivers Ian & Fraser, met a whole load ... read more

First of all greetings or Ola de Costa Rica Gosh the theme of this blog entry as you will work out is “diversity”. I could not have been to more diverse places in January if I tried! So this entry starts in my absolutely favourite city in the whole world NYC. I have to say this place gets better and better every time I visit it. I think I have now clocked three visits in the last seven years and feel like there is so much more to see! I did arrive though to NYC tired and emotional after a 24 hour trip which took me through four countries in one day. I was pleased though to get in a cab and for the first time since I left Australia being in a country that spoke ... read more

Hi Everyone Happy new year… This diary entry is well overdue. The fact that people are writing to me saying “Bella when are you going to update your blog” means to me that it is really time to write and that some people are actually reading this blog and getting some enjoyment out of it. Well December was an interesting month, as I reflect and read through my diary a lot happened in that month, some incredibly fantastic experiences and some damn bad and enlightening ones (well one anyways). I will start by saying that in December and up until the first week in January I caught over 15 trains, several busses, 5 planes, a couple of car rides, a few taxis & yes and ambulance which all in all took me to and through six ... read more

Ok so back to English! It is now Sunday night and I am writing this entry sitting in my room listening to the Italian radio and just chilling out. As I reflect on the last three weeks (as I do when I try to write this blog) a lot has happened in this time. True to my style of not wanting to sit in the one place to long (thanks mum for reminding me of this). I have been in some serious giro (going around!). So the story begins with a quick trip up to Milano to visit one of my hobie mates Lara Sicouri and her family home! It was a short visit of only one night (as Milano is so close 1.5hrs away) so I can do these short visits. It was really nice ... read more

So the first thing I did before I decided to write today was to try and figure out when was the last time that I wrote, and I just figured that it has been five weeks, my longest stint without committing anything to writing on my trip to date! Perhaps there are reasons for this, the first is that I spent my first two weeks in Genova discovering the city, reading all the tourist information guides, theatre guides, getting lots of sleep, cooking lots of food and of course starting at a new school. My first two weeks in Genova I timed my arrival into Genova perfectly as on my first weekend here the biggest boat show in the world namely Salon di Nautica that is held in Genova annually was on, the boat show is ... read more

Ciao Ragazzi, Come Va? Io sono molto bene….. So it has been a couple of weeks since my last entry. For some reason I always choose Fridays (yet again today) to scrivo (write) my blog entries. After countless emails from people arriving to work on Monday morning receiving my email alerts I am so sorry that you have to hear about my adventures on a Monday morning, but for some reason it is entirely coincidence and hey why change my behaviour now! The adventure left off just as I was about to visit (visito) Sorrento, Vesuvio and Herculaneum all in one weekend. Ill start with Sorrento, Maria and I took this trip on Saturday morning and we decided as it was such a lovely day that we would take the trip by boat via Amalfi ... read more

Ciao, Come Va Ragazzi? (This means hi everyone how are you!!) As I write this it is Friday afternoon and I am sitting out on the terrace of my apartment with a glass of wine watching the sun setting over the holy cross on top of the mountains of the Amalfi Coast. Another school week in Italy is over so in total I have been a full time student (studentesa) learning Italian (parlo Italiano) for three weeks (tre settimana). So is that the extent of my Italian you ask? No, ma parlo poco italiano (I speak a little bit of Italian). It has taken me a while to think about writing this blog entry as my head has been so full settling into a new country, finding a home, starting school again(and yes it is like ... read more

La Vie Bella - Life is Good! So it has been about three weeks from my last entry and boy has that time flown. I have been so fortunate to pack so many things into the last three weeks. The focus of August for me has been food, food, food, rose, rose, rose and on the side some boating (of all types - kayaking, sailing, power boating), and some mountain walks (well one anyways). I will beak up this entry into a few bits (perhaps if you have a map of France check it out!). Solliers Pont & Hyeres - The Scene: Sun, Sun, Sun, Happy Times and Great Food and Wine! We arrived at Solliers Pont the home of the Dinsdale’s in Mid August after the Europeans, and this was to be my home for ... read more

We arrived back in St Malo in France at 9pm and headed straight for the car park where Betsy was waiting for us still all in tact on the outside after spending one week in the car park. During the ferry trip back to St Malo Cara was slightly nervous that we would not be able to start Betsy as she has had issues with the battery running flat if it is not used for a bit. We were very relieved when Betsy started the first time so we high-footed it out of the car park and were on our way to Quiberon for the Hobie Cat European Championships Our aim was to make it to Quiberon that evening so with some determination, loud music to keep us awake and clear directions from Timmy (downloaded from ... read more
