Been a little while between blogs, but ive been busy having a good time. Ive been busy with birthday partys, cricket, then another party, followed by sundays in the pub with suggy. I was woken up at 8am 2 weeks ago tuesday to the surprise of mum and dad rocking up. i followed them up to the lake district and we did a bit of sightseeing and then met up with all dads old team mates from oldham cc. I also ventured into London to meet up with mates from school and we ended up going to royal ascot, having a big day, had a punt on the horse so you think, but didnt win. went into London the other week to catch up with a few of suggys mates. had a night out on the town followed by watching sunderland play already relegated west ham, at upton park. somehow we managed front row seats. the game was rubbish but the atmosphere was good. it seems ive come over here in the ultimate summer, the weather has been incredible and were looking at another month of 25 degrees plus. also all of brad and lewys mates seem to be having a birthday every wknd, so were out celebrating. i still havent been able to have a match winning performance in a game yet which is frustrating, but hopefully tommorrow is the day. the weekend just gone we had our second trip with the other stingrays, this time we were in worcester. ... read more
Gday, started my summer project at the Hatchetts, which is the fence. made a steady start 4 hours in and the result is in the picture. will have to do a second coat though which is a bummer. but heres hoping im doing it the right colour! ... read more
Gday all Had a night out in brighton last night, went in because sussex 1st and 2nd eleven both won. Lewis played in the second and he invited me out on the town. i thought it would be a regular night out, but when we got to the pub we got vip entry because i was with the sussex lads. and there were some big names in the room, stuart broad, matthew prior, monty panesar, lou vincent and adam voges. i ended up speaking and drinking with voges or vogie as now were best mates all night. when i got there vogie was already drunk and he was the drunkest man in the pub. was a great night out. what a trip, wrong turns, no sleep, freezing cold, thousands of people, a amazing dawn service and a very memorable experience. it started terribly in england with the plan being that we all meet at the place im staying, and get a taxi to gatwick airport. it seemed to be going to plan with three of the 5 at the destination, until we got a phone call from fordy and Jb who tell us that they got on the wrong train and are now headed back to bristol. they asked us to come pick them up, but we would have got lost aswell so they had to get an expensive taxi to gatwick airport. us three who were ready to go, Suggy, Shaun and myself head off to meet the wayward travellers at the airport. we ... read more
Its been a big week this one. I met alot of people from the cricket club on friday night, which was a very posh and traditional event. There was a toast master who kept chinking his glass every 5 mins for another speech. He would say things like "i would like to share wine with our overseas player, Mr Paddy Jolly". from there we went out on the town and kicked on. Suggy stayed the weekend at the hatchetts again and i think he'll be staying every weekend here which is good. Had my first training session on saturday which was good and i was really looking forward to having a bowl and a bat. There was only 7 people training but it should pick up from here on in. One week down. Will start at the gym on monday and have been for a run today which is good, but no so good because all around the hatchetts house are very steep hills. I got my car yesterday which is very helpful but its a manual and i was very rusty at driving it. also the roads are so thin, but you'll see that its ok with my little car. also there is a photo of the fence painting job i got to do over the summer.... read more
First weekend down and it has set the bar high because it was an absolute cracker. suggy and i met most of brad and lewys mates and our now called the 'aussies'. the weather has been perfect, everyday so far has been around 22 degrees with sunshine. watching the brighton marathon was good yesterday, thousands of people everywhere, and thousands of people hurting. it seems that suggy will be spending most of his time at the hatchetts which is awesome. the lads took us to my cricket club St James Montefiore and its a really nice ground and over the summer im going to be helping out the curator. i had my first taste of that on saturday as he got me to jump straight into it by mowing the oval on the tractor. everyone there ... read more
