We have left Thailand, somewhat sadly, but absolutely love it here in Laos! I seemed to have forgotten where i left off, so please forgive if Iam repeating. The rest of our time in Chang Mai was amazing, a city I would love to see again. Carla and I took afew courses here, a Thai cooking class (absolutely delicious and so stuffing we were all waddling out of the house), a fruit and veggie carving course, and my personal favourite ws the Thai massage course. In the massage course it was only me, so it was wonderful to get one on [View Full Entry]

Setting up our prayer flags at the top of Kalar Pattar. We all linked our together and tied it up high so we could see it from below.
Yes, we made it out of Nepal safely and not a moment too soon. We spent a little less than a week trying to recover from some sort of ailment, but we did get out of Kathmandu for some day trips to the Monkey Temple, Durbar Square and Baktapur. We spent a long layover in Singpore, but that would be the airport to do it in. They have three hotels in the airport, as well as free internet, a free movie theatre, free music stations, and a massive mall. When flying into Bangkok we didn't stay the night, but took a [View Full Entry]

Sorry, the photos take so long, I've been waiting and waiting for them to upload, but its just not making the connection. I will try in another country when I can. We're heading to Thailand in about a week, so maybe I will have more luck there. If not, then it will have to wait until I am home. [View Full Entry]

Haha! Ok, so we didn't run up to base camp, but we sure made it there! The round trip took 15 days, and now we are back in Kathmandu enjoying some more flavourful foods and not having to get up early to start the day off. This might be a long post so please be patient! Day 1: Kathmandu to Lukla, then Lukla to Phakding. We took a local flight on Yeti Airlines to Lukla from Kathmandu, which was an interesting flight in a small aircraft. The Himalyan winds sure shook us up a bit, but we made it to Lukla [View Full Entry]

Starting the trek

 Asia » Nepal
Hi Everyone! I'm off tomorrow morning to start the trek to Everest base camp. We're flying in to Lukla and starting from there. Just wanted to comment on the food here too. Since we are so close to India I am fully enjoying all the spices it has to offer. I almost have naan bread daily, but am slowly weaning myself off meat since there won't be too much on the trek. Carla and I stocked up on some snacks for the road, and rented a sleeping bag and warm jacket - since we didn't really feel like carrying those with [View Full Entry]

A drastic change

 Asia » Nepal » Kathmandu » Thamal
Hi everyone! We are now in Nepal and noticing some severe differences from Singapore. The rest of our stay in Singapore was good, and more culturally based. We met a man that writes for Lonely Planet and he took us on a walking tour of the temples and mosques in Little India and Chinatown. It was a wonderful evening, although a long one. Carla and I were still suffering a bit from jet leg, so were happy when told we would be back at the hostel by 8:30pm - also had a early morning flight to catch. Unfortunately we went a [View Full Entry]

Singapore and the Zoo

 Asia » Singapore » Changi
Hi everyone! So Carla and I made in one piece to Singapore and just enjoyed our first day here! It took us over 21 flying time hours, and a little under 30 hours total to get here. Arrived here at 2 am and it was already 26 degrees and very humid - but there is air conditioning at night, so we slept pretty well for a few hours. After a leisure lunch at the hostel we took a bus to the Zoo, which we were told not to miss. It rained most of the time we were there, but it was [View Full Entry]
