Good to read.... spent my last weekend of 30 years in Brighton... stayed with Chrissie and Pete... lots of memories of odd weekends that nearly always involved bicycles. How very odd to think you are living there. love to you both. P

Your 24h in Brussels
As a Belgian, I enjoyed reading your piece on Brussels. Brussels is great fun and one of my fav cities. Hope you will have another opportunity to get there - take a couple of days. J.

Why the British obsess about the weather
Having lived in the UK for thirty years I can safely say that I prefer the NZ buckets to the enduring pall of grey. However, in alternate decades when England has a summer, then it truly is a pleasure. And I am deeply gratified that you are cycling. I miss you both. And it was all white on the night! P

Don't forget
Don't forget about us Americans in the World Cup ;) We may surprise! And congrats to NZ for some amazing surprises in the World Cup. Sounds like you both are well and enjoying life in England. Let me know when you make it "across the pond." Cheers! Shaun

Good luck
Use Wimbledon to keep you occupied in between world cup games till the Tour de France starts. Watch that too or go down there and ride a stage. Or Mallorca; Rob and Natalie may be busy though. Early July is running of bulls in Pamplona btw.

Not all as it seemed!!
I love your sense of humour. I see you didn't mention going off to the Vets at 10pm on a Sunday night,or trying to persuade a diabetic dog that she really would like to eat her supper! And of course there was the water dripping through the back kitchen ceiling! I probably could go on but don't want to spoil your lovely image of being Lord and Lady of the Manor!!

I enjoyed reading about your experience house sitting, and searching for jobs. My boyfriend and I live the same life in Los Angeles! We move around from empty house to look after, to the next, do yoga, etc. Reading your post was like reading a parallel example! Our blog is looking for travel tips (like maybe how to find house sitting gigs!), photos, etc, to share. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email me at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Good luck with it all! Heather :)

Funny how things start out...
Toulouse is where the first Dominican community was formed... after Fanjeaux, somewhat to the East, ca. 1208. I'd like to mooch around there as you have been doing. Thanks for the glimpses! And did you notice, in Toulouse AND Paris, how successful that Roland chap was, in starting a trend? Peter

Ahhh Lego
The joys of Lego. If I could quit work to work on Lego I would. I seriously considered getting a nice big set of Lego technics for Finn to celebrate his 4th week, but bought wine instead, but it was a close call.

Scooters in London
Noted that you were considering a scooter/motorbike to ease the drudgery of the congested London commute. I know you are a brave young man, however I fear the persistent London smog and grime must have addled your potentially great mind. This preposterous hypothesis of yours is nothing short of reckless and I do now belive you have a true death wish. London traffic is a bull dog eat bull dog world, it is not suited to two wheel transportation like some of its European neighbours. In short, you will be eaten alive. I would suggest you find suitable transportation which allows you to better blend in with the British people. Get a white van from an Essex man, or better still, source yourself a nice piece of British motoring nostalgia - a Rover P5B. Yours truly, Concerned

Hi
Mum is quite right - I went to law school with Eesvan. He does look particularly dashing in your pictures. But then again, it could be the lens you're using..... Have a great trip!

Took a punt
I was checking Matt and Jane's travel blog and took a punt that you might have one too. Perhaps picture of a woman scratching her rear end has the same significance as one engraving we saw on a town wall in Alsace. In the Middle Ages it signified that this was a place of refuge - if you were guilty of small crimes no one could touch you here. Or then again its significance could be much more base. I'm sure I have heard Alisha talk about Esvan who went to Oxford. Enjoyed your blog. Marg

Yay vegetarian lunch in Richmond (or anywhere). We-at-the-manse are happily living off Mon's leftover kremelta turned into crumble. Friday night yoga is approaching - are you and Mon and your parents ready to hit Eton with some downward facing dog? I like your pictures and the fact that you seem to be having a good time!

blaaaaast!
We shall have no praise-less blog about our dear lovely gay-capital of Great Britain... What! Chris. But Brighton is cool; I love it though I rarely go near. Seeing that seefront daily with no proper sandy beach can make me sick. You have to do the walk towards Margate, whatever the path is called. I am planning a cycling trip on it some time soon. Now tell us something better
