We have arrived safely in Glasgow. The flight was fine - only a tiny bit of minor turbulence. Of course, once the plane landed, everyone decided they'd prefer to stand in the isles holding their luggage, instead of remaining seated until the ground crew cleared us to file out. I'm sure the teenage boy beside me enjoyed staring into the sewing patterns of the seat of my navy blue Mecca jeans as much as I enjoyed grinding with the 63 year old man in front of me. We took a taxi to the hostel, and waited patiently outside to be let in. Our room was not available yet, so we woke Britany and Jared to let us hang out in their room. After filling each other on the trip so far, we head out on the ... read more

Sydney suburbsTime is counting down. We've got less than a week left in Australia. According to our schedule, we're supposed to leave Sydney airport at 10 AM on Thursday June 21st (Sydney time) and arrive in Regina at 4:35 PM June 2st (Regina time I think). That works out to a 22 1/2 hour gap where we're either on a plane or waiting in an airport. Right now we're living in a nice lady's back yard. We're in this little house back there and we're charged $230 per week ($115 each) (we're only staying one week and). The YHA hostel we were staying at charged us $168 each I think. Australian dollars are roughly the same as Canadian dollars. About 90 cents AU to 1 dollar Canadian or something. We've been doing a lot of ... read more

Alright, so a few things have happened since I last posted. ...actually I thought I posted since Byron Bay but I guess it got lost in cyber space or something. Nimbin. We drove inland about an hour to see Nimbin. It's supposed the be Australia's version of Amsterdamn. So I figured at least it would be interesting if nothing else. Maybe a few funky shops with some one of a kind souveniers. Boy was I wrong. We got there on a Saturday I think? and most of the shops didn't open until 11 am. The shops that we did end up going into had all the regular pot parafinalia. And everyone talked really slow and nodded their head slowly and said "cheeers maaate." Haha. Even the dogs walked slowly. Everything we saw in the shops ... read more

Untitled Yeah! We're done work. After the croc farm in Flying Fish Point we continued on down through the rainy weather to Beerwah. We picked weeds among the strawberries for two weeks. Luckily the berries were starting to come in so we had plenty to eat, too. We had some van trouble, but a few bucks and a new carb kit later we were back in bussiness. We checked out the markets in Brisbane one day. Same old same old stuff. Then down to Main Beach in the Gold Coast for a day. Then a couple of klicks down to Surfer's Paradise. You know what? The Gold Coast sucks. There's plenty of hype around that its the best place in Australia. But it sucks. We went on a pub crawl last night and went to ... read more

Alright, after our Whitsunday's sailing tour, we headed north to the Atherton Tablelands region. But before that we visited a croc farm. A farm where they breed crocs for the sale of their meat and skins. Lots of effing dinosaurs in that place. If you like crocs, go to a croc farm. They had a little tour thing, and they even had kangaroos and emu and cossawary and chickens and roosters and parrots and snakes and lizards. But the crocs are what rocks. Very awesome. See the pics. After crocs we drvoe through the Atherton Tablelands and saw some water falls and we went swimming in the water falls and it was good. When we got to Cairns it rained constantly. Apparently it rains there a lot. So we made our way south again and ... read more

Whitsundays Whew! So now we're in Cairns. Things have been going smoothly. After our trip to Fraser Island, we drove up to Airlie Beach and booked three days, two nights on a sail boat tour around the Whitsundays. Georgeous. I highly reccomend it for those heading to Australia. My favorite part of the trip so far, I reckon. Well up there at least. We got on the boat of 22 plus 4 in the crew. The first day was kinda short and the night was easy going. Everyone was more focused on the meeting and greeting aspect instead of the the drinking and ....drinking aspect. The second day we went out to Whitehaven beach. Nice. White sand, clear water, jelly fish. I didn't get stung though, so all's well. Later we went snorkling. In the ... read more

Fraser Island Hey everyone. We did a four day (three night) tour of Fraser Islands and I look millions of pictures - which I will post later. Me and Quentin went together with Chris and Mel and rented a 4X4 unit (a Toyota Land Rover I think) and it only cost us $165 each ... well about $200 in the end with food and fuel and such. We took a ferry from Inskip Point (right outside Rainbow Beach) and drove to a couple of lakes (I'll have more details when I get the pictures online). The lakes were beautiful white sand with crystal clear water. All in the middle of a rainforest setting. Some are claimed to have tea tree oil in the water (but now that I think of it...an oil wouldn't really mix ... read more

Yeah, I'm done working for a bit! It feels good. My back and legs and fingers have healed and I can finally get back to the beach. Since my last blog we've gone sky diving, swam in some falls, went on a couple forest/jungle walks, fed the dolphins and seen a rainbow in the sand. We went sky diving in Caloundra for $330 - yikes I know it's pricey but it's the best deal we could find. It was in-fricking-credible! Unbelievable, I've never been so scared in my life. I wouldn't have it in me to do it twice in once day, that's for sure. Oh my, it was amazing. We jumped out of the plane at 14,000 ft and enjoyed a minute of free fall then the parachute was pulled and we floated down ... read more

Yay, I have a job! Me and Quentin are now planting strawberries about 15km east of Beerwah. It's pretty swell. Well the work stinks - you back aches, your fingers ache, and your legs ache - but the people are awesome. The boss is such a wise crack and he has half of his family planting with us. They're all pretty darn hilarious. The other day, we were planting and we noticed a lot of smoke rising in the distance. At first, we just assumed they were burning crops or something. As the day went on the smoke got more so, and we learned that it actaually was a delibrate fire. That is some one lit it, but it's not what you thinks. Apparently one of the neighbours has a boy who has been in ... read more
