Barginhorse - Daniel Yang

I like to think of myself as a small time adventurer. I started my world traveling as a backpacker. Later on I moved on to surfing safaries. My latest twist on traveling is touring by a motorized bicycle. Enter my blog if you are intrigued.

MY main object today is to decide if I will ride from Asuncion to Cuidad Este. I was told by the locals that this road is dangerous due to the traffic. I had to see for my self, therefore, I took a bus ride to check out the road condition. The traffic is heavy and the road should is cover with speed bumps. I have decided to skip this route and take a bus to Brazil to do route #6, the costal route. To add a little pleasure to the scouting bus ride I decided to continue the bus ride to [View Full Entry]

I started the day deciding to get my Brazilian visa here instead of in the border town of Ciudad Este. I found the cousulate and had to prove to them that I was not going to sell my bike there, that I had enough money to buy the whole country, and that I will leave their country. After all this they threw a shocking $170.00 visa fee. Will I paid and they will have my visa tommorow. Next on the agenda is to check out the entertaiment. The Municiaple theartre was holding s ballet practice. The practice was better than the [View Full Entry]

This morning I arrive at Resistencia at 4:00 am to change bus to Clorinda. Resistencia station was a real dump with lots of dogs and potors and nothing else at this hour. Good thing that I was alert because the tiket indicated on bus company and the actural bus was from another company. The loading and unloading cost me about $5.00. When I got to Clorinda I scurvy back into the tiny bus ticket office and assemble my bike. Got directions to the counsulate and road there. I have been here two years ago. The process of the visa took only [View Full Entry]

Back earllier I had to get rid of the gas so I dumped it into the shower. That was a mistake because gas I lighter than water and so the gas stayed at the bottem of the shower when the water drained . I have decided to stay an extra day in Cafyate to wait until the music festival cowd have jurneyed home on the highway. The road to my next destination will be mountainous. Lots of cars buses and trucks will make the trip by bike dangerous. I spend the day washing my cloths preparing my bike starting this blog and just resting. Tommorw will be a ride of 230 kilometer to Tucuman. This is a route recommended to me by some biker I meet on my most recent crossing of the Andies. Two note worthy event of this day is that I [View Full Entry]

Today I toke a bike ride to San Carlos. The day started with a pleasent surprise. The Agentinean families in my dorm room packed up and left. I now have the room all to myself and It will be cleaned The bike ride was as I planned. Cafayate was my base and I would explore the surrounding towns from this base. The first town I got to on this route to San Carlos was Animita. It was small and very tranqual. I read the autobiography book by Kate Adie, the BBC radio reporter. Had two ice cream cones and read in [View Full Entry]

Today Started at 10:00 AM. I got up at 7:30 but it still requie me 2 plus hours to wash pack, ready my bike and check out of the residencis to start my ride. It was hard to leave Residencis Elena. The hotel only cost $16.00 and I had this garden room with private bath and cable TV and all this in a beatiful setting. Salta had some great culture events to attend and good cheap resturants. The planned route was to Cafayate with a distance of 190 kilometer. It was flat and a brise to ride. Of course there would [View Full Entry]

Got bike checked

South America » Argentina » Salta » Salta
Today I did some mid point fix up on my bike and there was no real problem. However I did want to check the motor drive freewheel for looseness. I found a repair shop that did tighten it just a little bit. So little that I did not notice any difference. That night I went to the Lebenese- Syrian cultural center to listen to a violine concert by a couple of young Ukranian Kids. So strange but they were really good. So end this day [View Full Entry]
