I was hoping that this artcile could be found online but I guess not so I will just take some of the more pertinent quotes just to give you some idea about more of the progress being made in los Barriles. Mike and I got a great kick out of this. But this IS Mexico, after all and I love it all sooooo much!!! The Gringo Gazette is the Baja's only newspaper published in English covering ONLY Southern Baja and features news of local golf, fishing, hotels, car rentals, restaurants, and tourist activities. It is published every other week. From the [View Full Entry]

I realize that I put in two entries for yesterday and one was incomplete....Sorry. It is fixed now. It got pretty cold last night, probably in the mid forties. Considering our heater is not up and running yet, it was a bit cool but once the sun comes up, it warms up quickly. I just got up this morning and took a few pics around the area to let you see what the town is like. Los Barriles "boasts" of its improvements it has made in the last year. The road is done down main street and the road to our [View Full Entry]

Hey, bloggers! Sorry about that last entry being so long! We were pretty tired and cranky and I had written that up earlier on the road...... So......Water should be working later today if there are not major leaks. Well, there is a major leak, actually, on the toilet but Mike and Brian(neighber and GREAT guy!) are working on that as I write this. We also got the gas hooked up and running. We are hoping that the refrig. will finally kick on with the gas setting but if not, well, then we will have to get it fixed or replace it. [View Full Entry]

Our dear faithful bloggers....here is a recap of the last 2 days. WE are well and will get pictures up soon. Having a little trouble configuring the wireless w/ our neighbor but it will come in time.......We are well, the weather a little cool...... We got up and left the hotel at 6.45 am and began our trek to the border in Nogales. It was raining but not cool. We ended up going through the city of Nogales, Mexico. Pretty typical border town but a lot bigger than Tecate where we crossed last year. As we got to the edge of [View Full Entry]

The kitties........I do not think that they slept all night but they were pretty quiet for the most part. At first they were crying and scratching at the door, but then settled down. I had to use the facilities and every time I went in, they were ready to escape. We at least got some sleep w/o out the kitty gymnastics!!!! I let them out about 6 am and they were very happy. As we were getting ready to vacate the room, we noticed that Misty was really crying a lot. Then we realized that Jazzy was NOT around. I got [View Full Entry]

We had a nice breakfast at the hotel and then hit the road. We were welcomed by clear blue skies and although it was a little cool, it was not as frigid as it was yesterday! It was bone chilling. About 10 miles down the road it became very misty-like and then we noticed that all the trees and shrubbery and clumps of grass were tipped with frost! It is kind of weird to see frost and fog at the same time!!! Freezing fog? The fog soon gave way to clear blue skies again! Mother Nature at her best! We continue [View Full Entry]

Train along the highway
Mother Nature
Burger King!

We got on the road around 8 am this morning, got around Tulsa with very little problems---just very bumpy roads!! Wow! The scenery is not very interesting. But the sky is blue and there are just a few wispy clouds right now which is about noonish. My Sprint air card has been getting some very fast connections while on the road so I have been keeping myself entertained by watching day old shows of the View--to which I am addicted and will miss but if I have a good enough connection, I can watch it. They only show the hot topics [View Full Entry]

Love's Truck Stop
Sparty Mike
Cowboy Mike Rides again!

We slept well at the Comfort Inn in Effingham, had our breakfast and left around 8 am. The kitties did NOT want to go back into the truck, but they had no choice. They settled right in afterwards though so that was good. We are basically taking the same route as we did last year. We enjoyed seeing the Arch, stadium and downtown St. Louis again. We were reminded that we spent New Year's Eve there at the casino. And LOST, of course.....But the sunshine and dry roads are are just what we needed today. Driving INTO the sun all day [View Full Entry]

Blue Star Memorial Highway
Voss Truck Stop
Russian Boar!!

A little later this year than last for a variety of reasons. but we are on our way once again to the Baja. We actually were to get on the road yesterday but the weather and some minor other details caused us to wait one more day. We also took highway 57 rather than 55 b/c of news of flooding in Illinois so that was the only big change. We ran into some pretty heavy squalls around Saugatauk and on to Benton Harbor. More incentive to get to the sun. The truck is packed to the gills! We tried to make [View Full Entry]
